Windows Vista Freeware Firewall?

Has anyone found any Freeware Firewall software that works with Windows Vista yet? ZoneAlarm and AVG aren't ready yet - any help would be gratefully received

PCTools (Spyware Doctor, Registry Mechanic, Privacy Guardian etc) have a free firewall that supports Vista 32-bit

I don't know how good it is but relying on Vista's own firewall is purely a stop-gap measure until something better comes along; you can try installing a third party firewall in Vista in compatibility mode but i would advise against it.

Have you considered using BlackICE ? It's quite an intelligent firewall system, and very low on resources in comparison to it's security counterparts i.e. Norton, Mcaffee, Panda.

The most recent version also comes with an application monitor, which is also low on resource use, and similar to that you may have seen in Zone Alarm Suites. It is optional to install and/or use.

The only thing you would need to do is find an anti-virus program that suits your tastes. I recommend NOD32. You can use on-access scanning to monitor files you download or use.

Ultimatley it's good to have, just to do a thorough system scan once a week.

    Downgrade to XP pro.

It's faster, less headache, & doesn't need to be connected every annoying freagin' several months or so for activation.

    Dump Vista Vomit!

P.S. You really should google why NOT to use Vista, in addition to restricted copying (What? My pc or theirs?), check out trusted computing & what they want to do to you.
