    Yes its ludicrous.

    It costs childrens lives in winter (because its darker at night when drivers are most tired). It costs more energy (because people are at home for longer in the dark of evenings). And its annoying.

    It was originally done at the behest of an English gentleman who wanted more hours of light in the early morning for riding on his estate, because he thought this was the best time to be out.

    actually this started ages ago so that farmers and the people that work day in and day out to feed everyone could make use of the day light efficiently. and could work for longer hours. so i don't feel sorry for myself anymore, i pity the poor farmers that get out of bed at 4.30am (which would be 3.30 if we didn't turn the clocks forwards)

    I agree, it certainly can be annoying. But there is a mild method to the madness. Here are a few reasons why they do it:

    * To make better use of daylight.

    * Conserve energy

    * Saves lives because people travel home in the light which is safer.

    * Can prevent crime because people do their errands in the daylight which is safer.

    So annoying, yes. Especially if you forget, like I did. Mind you, in the autumn I forgot to put my cooker clock back and just left it, now it's right again!

    It matters where you live. Some parts of the world only change their time once a year, parts of Asia not at all. It's meant to make better use of daylight hours. (less usage of electricity because of darkness)

    it is annoying, it`s not so bad in summer but it`s a real pain in winter because it gets dark so early and pedestrians are more at risk from crossing the road. they should keep the time on b.s.t. (british summer time) all year round. one good reason to scrap putting the clocks back in winter to g.m.t. (greenwich meantime) is the early onset of darkness makes cover for burglars. perhaps they could call it b.e.t. (burglars easy time)

  • Time marches on,You,Me,Or anyone can stop it.Instead of changing the time on everything at once change what you are not using now,Leave the clocks till last.
