You have to keep at it.Having raised lambs and pygmy goats for many years I have to say it seems like maybe you might not be getting it. I've never had one that didn't give in way before that. I'm also used to getting calves started so maybe I'm just real adept at it. Hold your bottle in one hand and with the other hand cup his lower jaw in it holding the jaw with your fingers going up and over the nose. This way you are guiding the bottle and also keeping the jaws shut around the nipple at the same time. Now with the hand around the jaw and nose squeeze and let go, squeeze and let go, just as the goat would do himself when sucking. If you do not get the picture let me know and I'll again try to explain. If you do this a couple of times I really think you'll have him nursing fine. You know this little goat is going to think of you as his mom and follow you all around calling for you. You have a new friend. I put diapers on my pygmies and kept them in the house until a little bigger. Baby pygmies need to nurse every couple hours around the clock for a few weeks you; know and then you can let up on the night feedings. I was nursing my own baby and inseminating cattle for a living. I had my hands full. I'd breed the cow and then sit on the lawn and nurse my baby while bottle feeding the baby goat.

Probably because he's only a few days old! Billy needs to be breast-fed for a long time yet! Give him a few months, it least.

try putting a little honey on the end of the nipple. if that doesnt work you might try using a different milk, call your local vet and check on what kinds are best. you might even put a little honey in the milk itself, to give it a little sweet taste.
