The belief in Purgatory goes back to the earliest days of Christianity.
Tertullian (born about 160 AD) in "De corona militis" mentions prayers for the dead as an Apostolic ordinance, and in "De Monogamia" (cap. x, P. L., II, col. 912) he advises a widow "to pray for the soul of her husband, begging repose for him and participation in the first resurrection."
The concept of purgation is hinted at in the Bible. Here are a couple of places:
"But if someone's work is burned up, that one will suffer loss; the person will be saved, but only as through fire." 1 Cor 3:15
"So that the genuineness of your faith, more precious than gold that is perishable even though tested by fire, may prove to be for praise, glory, and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ." 1 Pet 1:7
Are you perfect now? Most people would say no.
Will you be perfect in heaven? Most people believe yes.
Purgatory (or purgation) is the process of God's love changing our imperfect selves on earth into perfect beings in heaven. Depending on the amount of change needed by different people, this can be an easy or slightly harder process. Everyone in purgatory is on his or her way to heaven. I do not think Mother Teresa of Calcutta had a very hard time of it.
With love in Christ.

Purgatory was simply created by the church to fear people into paying money to the church in order to get out of this purgatory. It has no true christian basis nor is it ever mentioned in the bible. The bible says that there is only heaven and hell and the only way to the cross is through Jesus.

It is fake. The Catholic Church made it up Catholics use 1 Cornithians 3:15 to prove this, but they are simply misinterpreting it. Also, the Bible states that Jesus Christ died for all our sins, and that we are saved, no matter what, if we believe in him. Jesus told the thieves being crucified next to him that they'd be in paradise with him, not that they'd have to be cleansed of their sins in purgatory.

the devine comedy is the name of the whole poem. it has 3 different parts. Hell, purgatory, and paradise.
btw it's all made up. maybe dante would have made a good fiction writer in modern times. so would paul, john and all those other guys mentioned in the bible

fake. The righteous are changed in a moment. 1 cor 15:51-52, John 5:24..... Jesus did not speak of a place of a hell that the righteous go to

Catholics Believe
That, as nothing defiled can enter heaven (Apoc. 21:27), souls with the slightest stain upon them must go through a process of purgation before coming face to face with Him "whose eyes are too pure to behold evil" (Hab. 1:13).
"I am thy father's spirit, Doomed for a certain term to walk the night, And for the day, confined to waste in fires Till the foul crimes done in my days of nature Are burned and purged away!" (Hamlet, Act 1, scene 5).
Catholics Believe
That there is a "prison," a place of temporal punishment, where souls (whose guilt of sin has been forgiven) go to make restitution for their transgressions:
"I (Christ Jesus) say to thee, thou wilt not come out from it, until thou has paid the last penny" (St. Matt. 5:25-26).
Catholics Believe
That the prayers, good works, acts of mercy, of the living help the souls of the departed who are in purgatory.
"Pray for my soul. More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of" (Tennyson).
"Lay this body anywhere: be not concerned about that: but one favor do I beg of you, that wherever you may be you will always make a remembrance of me, when you stand at the altar of God" (St. Monica to her son St. Augustine).

there is not any info it rather is "real," nor any "evidence." you may try the validity of hundreds of statements made in the bible, nevertheless -- and fairly certainly. working example, Matthew 22 rates bible jesus as asserting that with a tiny little bit of religion, you may command a mountain to bypass and it will gain this, and not something would be impossible to you. Has every physique, with ANY volume of religion, ever been approximately to bypass a mountain on command? Nope. Are issues that are impossible to anybody else (including levitating your self 20 ft in the air devoid of mechanical help) impossible to those with "faith," no count how a lot "faith" they have? Yep. That assertion fails each and every try it rather is ever placed to, so it can not in any way be "real." there are hundreds of alternative such testable claims in the bible, and anybody fails each and every try. it rather is sufficient info it rather is not "real" in any experience.

Christ did not say, "Sit down and write Bibles and scatter them over the earth, and let every man read his Bible and judge for himself." If Christ had said that, there would never have been a Christianity on the earth at all, but a Babylon and confusion instead, and never one Church, the union of one body. Hence, Christ never said to His Apostles, "Go and write Bibles and distribute them, and let everyone judge for himself." That injunction was reserved for the Sixteenth Century, and we have seen the result of it. Ever since the Sixteenth Century there have been springing up religion upon religion, and churches upon churches, all fighting and quarreling with one another, and all because of the private interpretation of the Bible.
We must have Faith in order to be saved, and we must have Divine Faith, not human faith. Human faith will not save a man, but only Divine Faith.
The Bible is only the testimony of a man. It is only human faith, not Divine Faith.
It is Divine Faith alone by which we give honor and glory to God, by which we adore His infinite wisdom and veracity. That adoration and worship is necessary for salvation.
Apocalypse 21
27 There shall not enter into it any thing defiled, or that worketh abomination or maketh a lie, but they that are written in the book of life of the Lamb.
Matthew 18
34 And his lord being angry, delivered him to the torturers until he paid all the debt. 35 So also shall my heavenly Father do to you, if you forgive not every one his brother from your hearts.
Matthew 5
25 Be at agreement with thy adversary betimes, whilst thou art in the way with him: lest perhaps the adversary deliver thee to the judge, and the judge deliver thee to the officer, and thou be cast into prison. 26 Amen I say to thee, thou shalt not go out from thence till thou repay the last farthing.
1 Peter 3
19 In which also coming he preached to those spirits that were in prison:
Micheas 7
8 Rejoice not, thou, my enemy, over me, because I am fallen: I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord is my light. 9 I will bear the wrath of the Lord, because I have sinned against him; until he judge my cause and execute judgment for me: he will bring me forth into the light, I shall behold his justice.
