What do you recommend besides Windows Media Player ?
I've just about had it with the constant need to tweak its flawed detection of the music files on my PC. I have over 10,000 songs & despite using good mp3 tag editors Media Player 11 just doesn't cut it ....I'm considering ITunes ... please advise.

WinAmp. I had an MP3 that media player wouldnt play despite having all the latest codecs installed by WinAmp played it with no problems. It's not the prettiest player out there but who cares when it does the job?!

If you're talking about Mp3 tag editors and such, try MediaMonkey.
As for playing the songs, WinAmp...can't go wrong.

VLC is in all possibility the main appropriate in case you're too lazy to bypass in and out looking the formats (which an entire codec p.c.. Will do for you, devoid of undertaking). inspite of the undeniable fact that my selection is Media participant common, that's greater customizable and quicker.
