do dems understand the difference?
the difference i am referring to is the difference between a budget surplus and actually eliminating the national debt and having an actual monetary government surplus. i ask because i see so many of them on here who seem to some how believe that Bill Clinton pulled us out of debt and then created a cash surplus on top of that. do you understand that we simply had a budget surplus. we also had a budget surplus under GHWB. can any one tell me what the difference is? i bet not.

You are correct, and Dem's can't see that because it doesn't meet their agenda of "all things not Bush".

He didn't have a cash surplus on top of his budget. Just a really good, stable plan of getting us out of debt over the next X amount of years. Yes, Bush claims to have one too, but his is a joke. The whole reason I hate Bush is because he has mislead the American people and only has HIS best interests at heart. Might I suggest that you google

Individual freedom is the dream of our age. It's what our leaders promise to give us, it defines how we think of ourselves and, repeatedly, we have gone to war to impose freedom around the world. But if you step back and look at what freedom actually means for us today, it's a strange and limited kind of freedom.
Politicians promised to liberate us from the old dead hand of bureaucracy, but they have created an evermore controlling system of social management, driven by targets and numbers. Governments committed to freedom of choice have presided over a rise in inequality and a dramatic collapse in social mobility. And abroad, in Iraq and Afghanistan, the attempt to enforce freedom has led to bloody mayhem and the rise of an authoritarian anti-democratic Islamism. This, in turn, has helped inspire terrorist attacks in Britain. In response, the Government has dismantled long-standing laws designed to protect our freedom.

They are quick to praise Clinton for "his" balanced budget and "his" reforming of welfare.
However, how many times did he veto each of the above??
Edit: See Andy R's answer for a classic example of misinformation perpetuated by the left. I wonder if he is intentionally being misleading, or is simply ignorant.

He did pull us out of debt and was beginning to close down the war monster that Reagan created that feeds upon the American taxpayer.

of course we do. we know the difference between a good president and a jackass. and we know that narrow-minded simpletons love riding jackass's.
Source(s): clinton may not have been the best president, but I have'nt hated a republican president this much since Nixon. but it don't bother me none, because its you fools that will be cleaning up this morons mess for a long time. I'm so disgusted, I'm voting for the Republicans this time. this time, you get to fix your own muckups. don't rely on us democrats to bail you out again. think about that when they foreclose on you house.
