what could be the problem?
i have an hp media center desktop running windows xp..when the pc is started up it goes through the regular motions,and all seems fine...when it gets to the desktop and everything begins to load there and seems fine then get a message saying "windows is shutting down" it does and the computer reboots itself and this process keeps repeating itself...earlier today the pc was virus scanned,spyware scanned and everything was fine...there has been no new programs added or anything else...at least i have my laptop..thanks in advance for any info

This is a common problem with hardware conflicts. Did you recently add any hardware or hardware drivers?
Did you recently add any new software? Sometimes new software adds itself to the start menu, and if there is a problem, it can cause the problem you described.
Try starting in safe mode. If it starts up fine in safe mode then you may have a problem described above. While in safe mode, uninstall recently installed software or hardware drivers. Then try restarting normally.

Turn it off, unplug it take the battery out and put it back in after about ten seconds. Restart it. Mine did that once and that's what I did to fix it.
