What are single member constituencies?

    In UK for governmental purposes there is only one elected member of parliament - single member constituency. However, at local elections, where a demographic zone is divided into wards, these wards may have more than one elected council member. In my ward we have three councillors, two Lib/Dem and one Labour. Not sure what the Conservatives are trying to do about that. A bit more shove next time perhaps. And not the silly damp piece of paper they shoved through my letter box last time around - this has been printed on recycled paper six hundred times etc.
