How can I get the title to my car (where from)?

My car is paid off but I don't have the title for it. I thought they would send it to you when you paid it off but they never did.

Call the lien holder and find out if they retitled the car in your name only. Have them send you the title.

Or you can go to your DMV and request a duplicate. Since you say it's paid off, make sure the lien holder's name has been removed from the title before you pay for it. If not, you have to take this up with whichever bank financed your loan.

  • Typically, you have to request the title from the finance company. They rarely send them out upon paying off the loan.
