hi,dont worry,have steam inhalation twice a day
procedure-put some vicks in water, and inhale the steam of that boiled water,it wil open spaces in your nose ,and thus improve your sinus drainage
2nd advice is have saline gargles atleast three times a day(avoid saline gargles if you have tonsillitis or tonsillectomy, you should avoid citrus fruits if there is tonsilltis,,otherwise citrus fruits are good in sinus infection as it contains vitamin c,,but still some group of doctors say to avoid it in sinus infection,,so be careful)
3rd dont take cold drinks
(avoid hot drinks if u have associated tonsillitis)
MOST IMPORTANT IS TAKE MEDICINES PRESCRIBED BY YOUR DOCTOR REGULARLY
i want to say that sinus infection is treatable,if you take medicines regularly

It is recommended that people with mild sinus infections (less than 7 days) take decongestants like phenylephrine whereas those with moderate to severe sinus infections (for 7 days or more) take anti-microbial therapy like amoxicillin.
Mild Infection (less than 7 days) You can take Nasal Decongestant Sprays like Phenylephrine or Afrin, but Do not use more than 3 days because you will get rebound congestion (congestion that is worse than the original congestion). If you have mucus, you can also try guaifenesin which is found in Mucinex or you could use Mucinex DM which has guafenesin and a nasal decongestant like phenylephrine.
Moderate to severe infection (more than 7 days) The first line of treatment is Amoxicillin or cephalosporin drug, which is what the rx is probably for.
Hope that helps!

Take the antibiotics because sinus infections are serious! My husband ignored his and ended up in the ER last week. He was very, very sick!
Along with the meds, try hot steam. Drape your head over a pan of boiling water with a towel around both you and the pan ( be careful) . That's what makes me feel better when I have a sinus infection. Also saline nasal spray can prevent infections because in winter, your nasal passages dry out! =) Good Luck and get well soon! =)

Here are some natural sinus treatments you can try:
These natural treatments will help keep the cilia healthy and functioning properly to prevent excess mucus from forming in your sinuses. If a sinus infection should occur, these treatments will help increase the effectiveness of your medications and antibiotics.1. Apply a warm compress to your face. You should do this for a period of five minutes, 3-4 times a day. Just place a small towel soaked in warm water over your face, below the eyebrows. This will help increase the circulation anddrainage in your sinuses.
2. Drink plenty of hot liquids. Hot drinks are one the best ways to unplug your sinuses, drink hot tea – black, green, herbal or decaffeinated, it doesn’t make any difference. Do you remember what your mother used to say? Eat chickensoup, this also helps. You need to consume enough liquids so that when you urinate, it is light in color.
Hot liquids will help keep your mucous membranes moist. This will speed the movement of your cilia and help wash the mucus out of your sinuses faster. Sorry, coffee lovers, but coffee isn’t nearly as effective as hot tea.
3. You need to irrigate your sinuses. For more than 3,000 years, practitioners of yoga have kept their sinuses healthy by sniffing a solution of saltwater rapidly in and out of their nose. A word of caution, do not try this unless you have been taught the proper way to do it.

For the pain you should put a moist hot pack on your forehead and keep doing that for 20 minutes every hour. A nice hot shower helps too. To my knowledge there isnt a home remedy for a sinus infection. They really hurt too, I have had them for years. Best of luck and hope you feel better soon.

A simple saline nasal wash or spray will help tremendously! I get sinus infections all the time & don't even bother using any prescription medicine to treat them.

You can take Benadryl Allergy/Sinus Headache but it will only cure your symptoms, not the actual infection. If your doctor prescribed something, it's best to take it. I know it's awful I just had one that lasted 2 weeks. It's dreadful. Feel better soon!

It's an infection. Your body will probably fight it off but you may walk around in misery for a couple months first. My doctor gave me an injection of cortisone and it cleared up quickly. I felt great for a month! As far as natural remedies, visit your local health food store and ask. Natural is mild and takes longer to work. If your infection is not severe, natural is probably a good option for you.

Get some 'shower soothers'. They are large tablets that you place in the flloor of your shower. As the water runs over them, they release vapors that will really open up your sinuses. You will find them at wal-mart, pharmacies, etc.
