Nat Geo prog: Muhammed- Legacy of a Prophet. Why is it so diff from what the extremists are preaching?
I saw on National Geographic Channel yesterday the above mentioned prog, and it opened my eyes to many many many aspects of Islam that i never really thought of, especially the prophet's last and final sermon where he encouraged his people to be good to each other and especially the part about forgetting vengence.
Question: Why is the teachings of so many extremist groups so different from the Prophet's message of peace?
2. Isn't Brother Muslim killing Brother Muslim equal to blaspheme of the porphet's words? ( eg. Shitte, Sunni conflict)
3. If the Prophet and ancient muslims were so forgiving of the Meccans when he had entered... how come our modern ones are so cruel?
Thank you.
p/s: for those muslims who havent watched this documentary, it is worth a watch, very inspiring program about your great Prophet ( I am not muslim though )

As with ALL religions, as time passes, each Patriach, Matriach or High priest/Priestess will "add" a little of their opinions to what is read in the original texts and re-interpretted or re-commented. That is how each religion "evolves" into its present state or branches out into sub-sects/groups of its original state
It is no surprise that after the passing of the Prophet, many people will have their own "take" on the teachings, some were benevolent and some malevolent... its all about who has enough powerful charisma to influence the mass majority of followers to "follow me", like in "Life of Brian" - Monty Python..." Follow the shoe!!" or " He is the True messiah... trust me I know! I have followed enough of them!"
