what does this mean?

Recently I was in a relationship with a guy and I said to him I think we both need space and the reason why I said what I said is because I would say how I would feel nicely to him and he would say yes but he never takes in to account what I say to him and I finally had it and I decided it's better for me to move on and give him at the moment. One of my friend's saw him and said to me that he is sad and has a humble emotion coming from him, what does that mean? I am sad that this had to happen very much so because I've known him for 7 years.
