any recommendation on Orlando Disney Restaurants?

I bought the disney (Orlando) theme park with dining tickets. It includes 1 table service dining for the restaurants inside the disney parks each day. Can you give me some recommendation on which restaurants that we should choose? We are a family of 4, including 2 kids age 6 and 7. Thanks.

First off it is extremely important to book these reservations in advance as they fill up. You can do that by calling 407-WDW-DINE. Any disney hotels will also be able to assist you at the concierge.

With the ages of your children I'd recommend character dining. At Magic Kingdom you can dine all three meals with WInnie the Pooh and friends at a buffet at Crystal Palace. There is also the Princess dining at Cinderella's castle (this fills up first, usually 90 days out). Finally at Magic Kingdom is a dinner with Goofy and friends at Liberty Tree Tavern, this is a like a Thanksgiving family style meal.

At Epcot, I'd recommend Garden Grill with Mickey and friends it is BBQ style and the restaurant rotates in the Land Pavillion. Also Mexico is a good choice or Italy.

At Disney's Animal Kingdom there is no full service restuarants that take the dining package (Rainforest Cafe does not accept it). But there is a Donald breakfast in Dinoland. It is one of the rare places to see Donald as well.

Finally, Disney MGM studios has some great themed restaurants. They also have a Fantasmic Dining Package that gives you guaranteed seating for fantasmic. There are three restaurants with this option, the most kid friendly would probably be Mama Melrose. If you opt not to do the Fantasmic Package then Sci-Fi Drive In or Prime Time. Both are campy and the servers really get into.

There are several great restauants at the resorts too. And those on the monorail make it very convienant. Such as Chef Mickeys a Mickey character buffet (open Breakfast and Dinner), O'hana at the Polynesian with family style Lilo and Stitch breakfast and a Grilled Meat/Seafood on skewers with delish sides at dinner...bring your appetite. The Grand Floridian have a Mary Poppins breakfast buffet and a Cinderella dinner. There are so many options.

This site is great too. It has all the menus online.

You bet! The table service meals are also good for resort dining as well (which is ALWAYS better than the food inside the parks), so keep that in mind as well! Here are my table service recommendations for each park!

    Magic Kingdom:

Liberty Tree Tavern - character meal

    Crystal Palace

    Tony's Town Square

    Kona Cafe - Polynesian Resort

1900 Park Fare - character buffet - Grand Floridian Resort

Chef Mickey's - Character buffet - Contemporary Resort

    EPCOT:

    Garden Grill - character meal

    Tepenyaki - Japan Pavilion

Coral Reef - Living Seas Pavilion

any of the rest. inside the world showcase countries!

    Disney-MGM Studios:

    50s Prime Time Cafe

    Hollywood & Vine

    Sci-Fi Drive in Theater

    Mama Melrose's Italian Rest.

Cape May buffet - Disney Beach Club Resort

    Disney's Animal Kingdom:

    Tusker House Grill

    Rainforest Cafe

***Boma-Flavors of Africa Buffet - Animal Kingdom Lodge

Jiko-The Cooking Place - Animal Kingdom Lodge

*** My favorite restaurant in all of Disney's property!

The Prime Time Cafe is my absolute FAVORITE. It's in MGM Studios in Disney World, it's got a 1950's kitchen setting, they play scenes from the Dick Van Dyke Show and Andy Griffith on small TVs at the tables, and the waiters and waitresses are Mom and Dad. You're the kids. You have to set your own table, the kids get "homework" (coloring a picture), and be sure you finish your vegetables!!

Ohanas at the Polenesian Resort is a lot of fun too! It's a family style buffet at your own table, everybody is your "cuz!" or "cousin!", and they have some great entertainment for families. Kids get called up to do "heads, shoulder, knees and toes" in Hawaiian (confusing and fun!) and they also have races where you use a broom to push a coconut around the room. The pineapple and caramel appetizers are to die for!!

The Garden Grill restaurant in The Land Pavillion at EPCOT is great too. Farmer Chip and Dale and Pluto greet you as you eat. All of the food there is natural and the veggies are grown in the land right below you. If you get a table on the lower level, you can watch part of the ride just over the railing. The restaurant also moves - it spins, but it's way too slow to notice it.

If your kids like animals, take them to the Rainforest Cafe. There's one in Downtown Disney and another just outside of the Animal Kingdom. There are animatronic animals that "act up" every so often, and the setting is beautiful. Like most theme restaurants, the food isn't the best, but it's still pretty good! If they like movies more than animals, take them to Planet Hollywood in Downtown Disney as well.

Chef Mickey's is the favorite for character dining, but it's buffet style and it's hard to get the kids to eat when their favorite characters are everywhere!

I've heard good things about all the restaurants in Disney, but I've actually eaten at these (from age 6 - age 22) and I KNOW that they're great! The only one I'd stay away from is the Sci Fi in MGM. It's fantastic, but way overpriced.

Go to a character breakfast. People have their different preferences, but we go to the one at the Contemporary resort, Chef Mickey's. The fab 5 are there (Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Donald, Pluto), plus another character or two. The food is a buffet that is pretty good.

The Sci-Fi diner, 50's Prime Time cafe, Mama Melroses' Italian restaurant are all good in MGM. We will be going to the 50's Diner when we visit in a week.

The restaurants in Germany, Japan, Mexico, and England are all good in the World Showcase in Epcot.

The Magic Kingdom has Tony's Towne Square.

For some good Dining reviews go to the Dis boards. These are some chat/post boards that have tons of info on the resorts as well as every restaurant in the entire resort. There is also more info than you can imagine on everything that is Disney. I would also recommend you go to the disneyworld website for some more info. Finally the Birnbaum's guide to WDW also has some great info on all of the places to eat.

    Have a great trip!!

Check out www.allearnet.com for menus (including childrens)to all the Disney World restaurants.

If your interest is more about the food itself then I'd forget the character buffets. We've done MANY of them for the experience but honestly the food isn't all that great. Chef Mickey's is so popular and we've done this one too but the food is just so so. It's not spectacular like some of the other restaurants. The Sci-Fi and 50's diner is all right but it's more about the ambiance than about the food. So it's really about personal preference.

Our family takes turns deciding where we'll eat. Our daughter chooses character meals usually so we'll do those for her sake. But for excellent food try the following: Mama Melrose for Italian at MGM. Chefs du France at Epcot is good if you like French Cuisine. Tony's at Magic Kingdom is always on our dining list. The Coral Reef (has a huge indoor aquarium with 8' glass walls) at Epcot is also a favorite for the ambiance; the food is good, too. For steaks I suggest Le Celier at Epcot. You HAVE to try this restaurant, you will not regret it. The Rainforest Cafe is an excellent choice for both the food and ambiance. This restaurant's entrance is at Animal Kingdom. If you like Moroccan food or want to experience something new I'd suggest the restaurant at Epcot in the Morocco. The food is really good and for entertainment they have a Belly dancer. Our little girl loves getting up and dancing with her. It's cute!

Be prepared to get a lot of food on this plan. We have never been able to finish it all and leave room for dessert, too. Enjoy!

Well, it is hard to say what someone else will like, so first here is a website that has all the menus for you to look at and see what sounds good. http://www.allearsnet.com/menu/menus.htm Be sure to look around on here, there is a lot of great info.

Ok now for my family's personal favorites.

    Sit Downs

Chef Mickeys at the Contemporary is the BEST Mickey character meal on property. I recommend going for dinner as the menu is better. I never eat a lot of breakfast, so I always feel like dinner is a better value.

    AT MGM

50's Prime Time very fun, you eat in Moms kitchen and your sister serves you. The waitress says things like eat your green beans and get your elbows off the table. Plus the food is very good.

Mama Melrose Fantasmic Dinner package great food, plus you get a reserved seat for Fantsmic.

Sci Fi Dine In great theming and good milkshakes

    EPCOT

Garden Grill is a great character meal that is usually easier to get in to because it is tucked away. Restaurant over looks the Land. Food is great, The only thing I would warn is the restaurant does turn very slowley in a circle, so if that motion bothers you... For most it is ok, I have a small problem with it, so I tend to not look out too much, but I mention it just in case.

Coral Reef food is good, but the aquarium is so nice to watch. We love this as a place to stop cool off, rest our feet and relax before heading back out.

L'Originale Alfredo in Italy is really good but it is closing in August, so I am not sure if it will be available. If so, try it. They are the company with the original Alfredo recipe and the food is YUMMY

Tepanyaki in Japan is a Bennihana style restaurant (no fried rice) and is fun and Yummy

    Magic Kingdom

Not many sit downs here. We recommend Crystal Palace for dinner with Pooh. Again dinner has the best menu.

The castle is amazing, breakfast with Cinderella is almost impossible to get into, but you could do lunch or dinner. Check the menu though. It is good but is a little gourmet for my meat and potatoes husband.

    WALK UP

MGM-All are ok. Toy Story Pizza Planet is usually a stop for us, because of the name and the arcade.

Animal Kingdom-Pizzafari is good and has a good sized indoor seating. Flame Tree BBQ is so good, but has very little seating and it is all outside. Not as good if you want to cool off

Magic Kingdom-We love Columbia Harbor House, the fish is very good, and a nice change from burgers and pizza. Cosmic Rays is also a good choice because there are so many options within one restaurant.

EPCOT The land is great with lots of choices, the restaurant outside Mexico serves something called a wet burrito that is super good, and our favorite desert spot while wating for Illuminations is Kringle Og bakery in Norway.

    Hope this helps. Have fun.

Go to allearsnet.com for menus and prices.

Here are just a few I would suggest....

Rainforest Cafe at the Animal Kingdom

Whispering Canyon at the Wilderness Lodge resort.

    Sci-fi drive-in at MGM Studios

Again it really depends on what your children like. Check out allearsnet.com and you should be able to plan some good eats for your trip.

go to mouseplanet.com and post in their discussion area there and read their dining reviews. You have to take in some character meals and all that. Mouseplanet is the best place to ask questions about Walt Disney World

Alfredo's in Italy closes at the end of August. I would definitely have a meal there. My 9 and 7 year olds love it and are sad to see it go.

Alfredo's in Epcot is wonderful!!! I like the LIberty Tree Tavern in the Magic Kingdom, but I think they do a buffet or character dinner there now.
