Can Quail damage a Cherry Tree?

I have many fruit trees on my property and we lose most of the fruit to birds.

But this year I noticed the Quail jumping into the Cherry Tree and pecking at the blossoms. Will the tree produce less fruit because of this? Or can it hurt the tree?

I really don't know how to solve the problems I am having with birds and quail in my cherry, apple, and pear trees?

Any ideas?

Update:

We tried nets and they still get through them. Also animal activists do not believe in nets as they injure birds and we dont need them on our backs.

Can you net your trees? You dont want there to be large enough gaps that birds could get stuck in. But i think this would be the simplest soulution. The netting could also be removed easily later when the trees are ready to harvest.

The blossom makes the fruit, remove the blossom then it can not produce fruit. Maybe you could leave one smaller tree that usually does not produce as much for the birds. lol But ya, i think netting should solve your problem. Good luck!

My ol' Grandpa used to place fake owls in his peach trees. He swore by this forever, saying that they scared other birds away..Guess its worth a try
