It's up to the individual really. Some take it too far, others are fine with it.

It's not inherently addictive, had few side effects. You also seldom hear about people driving while high. Actually there was a study released that said that you shouldn't do tests for marijuana at roadside and the technology shouldn't be developed. Because pot smokers don't drive poorly, but poor drivers can smoke pot. Plus there's theories that say that when you get high faster, unlike drinking, you know you're high because it's not gradual, so you're less likely to hop in a car and drive away.

That said for some people it can be bad, especially if they're self medicating. For some it's a gateway drug, much like alcohol can be, but again this is because of the individual not the drug.

It's far less evil than crack or meth, in fact I think cities should be flooded with it with the city's blessing so as to try to push out crack and meth.

In my country it's been decriminalized, and we've had no bad repercussions because of it. You simply do not go to jail, and most people just don't care much.

It's the harder stuff that can erode a society.

Is there a middle ground? Or only good or evil?

    The bad:

The marijuana produced today is MUCH stonger than the marijuana of you fathers day. Growers have learned to actually SEX the plants and remove the male plants early on. This makes the female plants, they produce the flower or "BUD" to produce more and more THC (tetrahydrocannabinol) increasing the actual potentcy of the plant. Thats one reason why "bud" costs more. The resulting 'high" is more intense because of the greatly increased levels of THC. THC concentration is actually 20 to 50 times higher than that of the marijuana of the 70's because of the selective growing, and hybriding of plants.

Marijuana, when smoked, burns hotter than tobacco for example. The smoke "heat" is amplified by the way marijuana is smoked by sucking air in along with the smoke from the cigarette. This heat damages the throat and lungs. Additionally, the way marijuana induces the "high" does lung damage. It is inhaled, and held in the lungs as long as the smoker can hold his/her breath. The majority of this "smoke" is absorbed into the lungs, transfering it to the blood. Because of the way marijuana is smoked, the smoking of ONE JOINT can do the same amount of lung damage as a pack of cigarettes.

The "rumor" is that marijuana is not addictive. I disagree. While it may not be physically addictive it is psychologically addictive. Talk to your marijuana smoker friends. They CAN quit, they simply don't want to. Impared is impared, whether it's from alcohol, or marijuana. Nobody wants a drunk behind the wheel, but do you want to work in a factory next a guy that's loaded? or in a car?

The issue of being a gateway drug is always debated. Certainly not everyone that smokes marijuana becomes a screaming PCP user, or basement dwelling heroin user. Talk to "real drug users" is you can. You will discover that most, if not all, were introduced to drug use through marijuana in some form or another first. The whole idea is to instill the feeling that breaking this law isn't all that bad. That marijuana won't kill you; that Marijuana is like alcohol; I can quit anytime I want; and it doesn't really hurt anyone. However, like alcohol, addictive personalities are easily swept up into the feeling of euphoria, and weak personalities (followers) are easily influenced by their "friends" who lack ambition, direction, interest and marijuana quickly becomes the focus of daily activity.

Studies have been done and confirmed that regular users suffer from short term memory loss as well as cognative abilities. It is proven to affect reflexes, reaction time and to impair decision making ability.

    The not as bad:

Physically and emotionally, I suppose the occassional joint isn't that big of a deal. But it's the rare person that can do that, just like it's the rare individual that can have "A" drink.

I think its fine as long as you can control it.. First of all it is allowed in many states to be used for medicinal purposes.. Just beacuse the Federal Law says its prohibited doesn's mean anything.. If you want to smoke a Joint or have a beer its all the same as long as you know what your doing.. I used to drink back in college until i found the Cannabis and never looked back.. For the people who knock it they have either never tried it or are naive

Neither. Those seem to be conceptions that do not apply to inhaling a burning plant.

However, smoking cannabis while driving a school bus isn't good. Smoking cannabis to help glaucoma is good.

The act itself is just an act without the circumstances surrounding it.

Ask officer friendly(VICTOR). The man thinks with his badge instead of his brain. He must still be a member of the super hero justice league.

VICTOR, I could only hope that this country didn't smoke weed, so that you could see how insane society would be. You might think you've actually got a purpose in preventing crime, but you're just a tool. When you wake up from your dreams of Ozzie and Harriet, Davie and Goliath.....light up a fat one and shut your mouth and think. It's not that bad. More people smoke weed then you can imagine. So when you get so quick to label "smoking" the things you do(stupid), just remember that there's people that are smarter than you that smoke weed every day. Now how smart are you?

Fabulously Good. Why? For me, it heightens creativity and sexual stimulation. Say no more, right??

For the naysayers, first of all, marijuana is illegal because the government can't tax it. Don't believe the hype. If they really gave a damn about our health, they'd ban cigarettes. Recent studies have shown that alcohol and cigarettes rank significantly higher than marijuana insofar as health hazards are concerned. Marijuana's medicinal use has already been documented. Cancer and AIDS patients benefit greatly from marijuana. Not only does it provide pain relief for up to six hours at at time, it also increases appetite. Aside from that, it has benefits for eyesight. No one has ever been known to die from smoking marijuana alone. However, alcohol, a legal drug, is behind nearly all deadly car accidents, murders, rapes, etc.

So before you waddle along with the rest of the sheep who listen to whatever the government tells you, how about actually researching the topic first so as to not come off as a mindless twit.

I think one should be allowed to smoke weed. For one thing it is not as toxic or addicting as non regulated drugs as alcohol or tobacco. It has been proven to help those suffering from dementia and other progressive brain diseases to remember aspects of their lives they havent remembered in years. It helps those in medical need that would otherwise be in pain, those who cant eat, and those who would otherwise be in agony. I think we need to look at the big picture with helping people rather than old time taboos or misconceptions.

once a month is cool and relaxing

once a day can cost your more than money

I did it once a day for 3 years and cost me big time

lost friends, problems at school and controls your life

neither, just useless and unnesscary. look what it does to the brain, science backs me up. it puts on a dependence to think that the body needs it. thats why you cannot argue with someone who smokes that, because they will argue over it forever

why would someone perfectly healthy need to take a drug? thats like me taking Tylenol for kicks.
