Expensive. Most handguns are from $15 to $25 to rent. Then you need to buy a box of ammo which usually costs about $15. Then it costs about $10 per half hour of shooting and initially there is a flat $18 liabilty charge on top. So 1 visit as a guest for an hour of shooting will probably cost you about a little under $100.

Looking at the other answers I can see that prices vary severely. I guess it depends on where you live, if you happen to be in San Diego CA you are looking @ anywhere between $12 to $28 an hour for an indoor range that is open to the public that has firearm rentals available ( non include a rental in the price) be sure to check with the range you plan on going to first to see if you can purchase ammo elsewhere at a lower price and then shoot one of their rentals with it. Reason I recommend this is because most ranges only allow you to shoot ammo they sell trough their rentals. Oh and one more thing some ranges have some policies which might raise your costs ( peek hours, no outside ammo at all) so be sure to call first-sorry to say it twice but it might save you a trip and some disappointment
