Which birthing class is best?

I am not sure if I want Lamaze or Bradley. I think Lamaze seems a little frantic. Bradley seems more appealing becasue it is meditative and calming, but I know they are against epidurals which I am probably going to have. Also, if I am having an epidural are the birthing classes really necessary?

First, I think you ought to seriously rethink the epidural. Seriously.

Birthing classes will teach you what to expect in labor... what the baby goes through and what you go through. Lamaze didn't do anything for me when I was in labor. I thought it was a crock! I definately suggest the Bradley Method. Both are not for epidurals, and if you plan on having one then you don't really need to know how to calm yourself down because you won't feel the pain. Unless of corse you have the baby in the car on the way to the hospital, then it might come in handy.... Education is always good to have. you don't want to be blind-sided.

Lamaze frantic?? Wow, I must be one berserk kind of person then! Birthing classes include a lot more than "how to meditate." Birthing classes go over different pain relieving options...and what you can expect from them (such as, if the epidural is done wrong, you will get one whopper of a headache...or if its given at the wrong time, its useless.) Go to the classes.

I had both my children natural, without any pain killer. You will be fine.

they teach you in lamaze how to ignore the pain. and they make you watch videos. if you want to see and learn more about what happens to your body even if you are going to have an epidural then go ... go where you feel you will be more comfy which sound more like lamaze than bradley.. good luck... im going for an epidural if i have to. i did my first son all natural no pain med at all.. all i can say is ooooouuuuuuuucccccccch omg... i will try again this time but i don't know man... after i had him i swore i would never have another one not to feel the pain.. here i go again thoughh... 34 weeks and and 6 more to go...

I don't know which is better but I'd go with the one that allows epidural since that's what you want. That way you can ask about it, get proper education about it, etc.

I say yes take the classes. Even if you don't think you'll need them they'll come in handy. You learn how to stay calm and breathe properly.

When I become pregnant I will surely take the classes.

To be honest with you, you dont need a birthing class. I went thru my labor natually because all you need to remember is to breathe and stay calm.......it'll be money wasted but if you must go, it doesnt matter 'cause they teach the same thing......

The one which tells you how to slide that baby out the easiest.

You don't really need a class...they will tell what to do during birth...don't waste your time!!
