Prime ministers vary across different parliamentary systems. They are head of the executive branch and they are accountable to parliament. Parliaments appoint prime ministers. Although the prime minister is the head of the executive branch, his role intertwines with parliament. The prime minister serves in the legislature. Prime ministers are not heads of state. Heads of state are usually monarchs, but in France's case the head of state is the president. The powers of a prime minister depend on the country.

A president is a separate and distinct office. A president does not serve in a legislature and isn't appointed by the legislature. A president is head of the executive branch and head of state, as well detached from the legislature.

The biggest distinction between the US' congressional system and a parliamentary system is that there is no separation of powers between the executive and the legislative branches in a parliamentary system.

A prime minister is the head of goverment.....usually the head of cabinet minister, the executive., usually tthe prime minister is appointed by the president, in the Uk the Queen is the head of state, and normally should appoint the prime minister, but by convention in the Uk , it has been accepted that the party with majority seat in parliment forms the Goverment......

conventions are not legally biding, but they could have political implication which could be disisastrous,

what this means is that if Prince charles becomes King or any of his sons, they have the prerogative not to ask the leader of the majority to form a party , this theoretically can happen, but if it ever happens that will be the end of our good old monarchy

A president is the head of goverment in a presidential system of goverment, and he appoints the prime minster to run the goverment and usually has veto power.

A parliamentary system of Goverment is a situation were a Country is split up into regions each representing a certain area , from the parliament you get the prime minister and hence head of Goverment they .
