Does anyone have some great dip recipes that are always a hit?....(read details)?

I have a great chip/dip bowl, that I haven't gotten to use yet and I need to make a dish for a party next weekend. So, I wanted to make a great dip that is good for chips AND vegetables, so that I can finally use it! I have read every dip recipe in all of my cookbooks and want to try something different!

I want something easy, but flavorful and really, really great, that you have ACTUALLY used with great success. Please don't just copy and paste some insanely difficult recipe from MarthaStewart.com(I could have done that myself), I won't pick your answer!

So here's to your great recipes, go for it! Be as creative as you can, while still maintaining a relatively easy level of difficulty! Leave several if you like, I also have a brunch I need a recipe for, so a fruit and cake dip might be great, too! Thanks in advance!!

For your fruit and cake dip use 1- jar Kraft's marshmallow cream , and 1- 8oz pkg cream cheese, mix together well , and chill that's it . Its great to Serve with a Fresh Bowl Of Strawberry's...

For dip if your a garlic lover use 1- 8oz cream cheese , 1/2 cup mayo, 9 cloves fresh garlic crushed, and 1tsp Tabasco and 1/4 cup milk , Take all of the ingredients put in a food processor and mix well then chill and serve , Tabasco is optional but i like it spicy ... In our house we say if you eat this make sure your guest do too this way they wont complain about garlic breath :) But this is a recipe my mom created and it is so good everyone who's ever tried it went crazy over it . These are 2 very simple but delicious recipes ... Good Luck :) On this dip do not use crushed garlic in oil it has to be fresh cloves of garlic .

I have always had success with my crab dip. Simple and easy to make.

    1 can lump crab meat

    1/4 tsp. Old Bay Seasoning

    1 Tbsp. Mayo

Drain crab meat and place in bowl, add seasoning and mayo and mix well. Chill at least an hour before serving.

This is the base recipe. I usually double it and sometimes I even add salad shrimp for that little something extra.

I actually made this the other day. I mixed sour cream mayonnaise, garlic powder, a little seasoning salt and a lot of dill weed (I used the dry). It made an excellent dip and I also used it on baked potatoes the next day,

I always use cream cheese as a base for my dips, and I think they taste great.

Try mixing cream cheese, just with a little sweet chilli sauce, then when you put it in your dip bowl, pour some more sauce over the top to decorate.

Or mix a packet of cream cheese with 1 TBL of mustard (sweet or american) and a handful of sultanas and some chopped dried apricots.

Or simply mix your cream cheese with a packet of instant soup mix like, french onion, mushroom or spicy tomato.

    Good luck!!

I have two you can try with chips and veggies. My personal favorite is the crab dip.

    Crab Dip

1 6-ounce can crabmeat, drained, flaked, and cartilage removed

    1/2 cup mayonnaise

    1/2 cup sour cream

2 tablespoons finely chopped red onion or green onion

    1 teaspoon dried dill

1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon peel

    1 teaspoon lemon juice

Several dashes bottled hot pepper sauce

    Salt and black pepper

Finely chopped red or green onion (optional)

In a small bowl stir together crab, mayonnaise, sour cream, onion, dill, lemon peel, lemon juice, and hot pepper sauce. Season to taste with salt and black pepper.

Transfer dip to a serving dish. Cover and chill for 2 to 24 hours. If desired, garnish with finely chopped red or green onion.

Another family favorite is avocado dip.

    2 ripe avocados

    1/3 cup mayonnaise

    3 tablespoons lime juice

    1/2 cup diced tomato

1 tablespoon finely chopped mild green chili pepper

    2 tablespoons snipped cilantro

    1/2 teaspoon dried thyme, crushed

    1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

    1/4 teaspoon pepper

Peel and pit avocados. In a medium bowl mash avocado pulp with a fork. Add rest of ingredients and stir until well combined. Cover surface of dip with plastic wrap and chill until serving time.

    *************

This is my favorite dip for fruits. You can use whatever fruits you like and are in season.

    1/3 cup ricotta cheese

    2 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon finely shredded lemon or orange peel

    1 tablespoon orange juice

    1/3 cup vanilla low-fat yogurt

In a blender container or food processor bowl combine ricotta cheese, sugar, lemon or orange peel, and orange juice. Cover and blend until smooth. Stir cheese mixture into the yogurt. Cover and chill dip up to 24 hours.

This chocolate dip is also fun – and it is firm enough not to drip! Serve it warm. You can use both cake and fruit as dippers.

    8 ounces unsweetened chocolate, chopped

1 14-ounce can (1-1/4 cups) sweetened condensed milk

    2 tablespoons light-colored corn syrup

    1/2 cup milk

    1 teaspoon vanilla

    1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon

    Milk

In a heavy medium saucepan melt chocolate over low heat, stirring constantly. Stir in the sweetened condensed milk and corn syrup until combined. Gradually stir in the 1/2 cup milk until combined. Stir in vanilla and cinnamon. Stir in additional milk as necessary until dipping consistency.

(This can be made ahead and reheated in microwave. You may have to add a little milk to thin.)
