Do you watch "The Riches"? Have you ever came in contact with these types, these "Irish Travelers"?

I have, a little different from the 'norm'. Keep to them selves. I doubt they would be as public as 'the Riches' are. They seem not to mind marrying and having children with their cousins.

What do you know about these people, what do you think of the show? Realistic?

    yes, I've seen them.

They used to be more noticable when I was growing up and would piss my mom off when they came around trying to scam. But haven't really noticed any for a while.

    they're called gypsies I think

I absolutely love the show, "The Riches". Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver are brilliant actors and the kids are great, too.

I had an aunt that lived "off the grid" for many years, making a living off of housing painting and some other forms of business (legal and illegal). She spent a lot of time with people that I would consider "travellers" and possibly grifters. Basically, they were old Aquarian age hippies that still sought out a life, that meant not having to "work for the man". I thought it was cool, but, I remember my mom saying that some of their lifestyle was risky and scary.

I know of people who choose to live of the radar but once you are on the radar you are always on the radar.

As for Irish Traveller's they primarily live in the United Kingdom. There are no reports of them being in this country but it could be that they are just good at covering their tracks than gypsies. Gypsies are Romanian in descent. Travelers or gyppos or pikeys are from Ireland.

They are similar in their dislike and distrust of outsiders. They are not normally grifters. I can't speak for the getting married to your cousin thing but that is nothing new. People have done that for decades to protect the purity of their lineage.

As for the show it is a bit insulting in the way it turns travellers into thieves and con artists.
