Forgive me for being a naive girl, but where do you find the VIN number on a car??
Like, where in the car is it posted? I am looking to buy a used car and I heard that running a VIN report is helpful. I think AAA does it for free.

On the right side of the dashboard. You should be able to see it looking in from the outside of the windshield.

The VIN number is on the left side of the front window lower corner. There is a cutout in the black masking around the windshield to show the VIN. You can also just ask the dealer to give it to you. AAA does not do this for free. You will pay a fee no matter who you use. The easiest and best for my money is carfax as it has the largest database from what I've seen. You can also insist that the dealer run a carfax as part of the purchase agreement. In any regard, this does not substitute having a qualified mechanic inspecting the car before you buy. Most charge a nominal fee - $30 or so, so be selective and have only the ones you're truly interested in buying checked out.

You can usually find the VIN on the dashboard by looking through the windshield on the driver's side of the car. Hope that helps.

The vin number is a metal tag found on the driver's side bottom of the windshield. (Look for it from the outside of the car.) It is pretty long so you will need a piece of paper and a pencil to write it down. That is the most common place for it. Hope that helps.

It's on the drivers side corner of the front windshield. A small plate with numbers and letters...not sure if AAA does the check for free....but CarFax is worth the money to find out history. Good luck on your purchase.

Driver's side way up on the dashboard. Usually you have to read it through the windshield from outside the car.

Two places. On the dashboard, right next to the windshield on the driver's side, and on a sticker on the driver's side door frame somewhere. Verify that these match.
