What does it mean when the computer shows that a file is "corrupt".?
Ia m trying to email a resume and when i do it I attach the file. After I send the email the person tells me they recieved it and could not open it. Also when I try and open it through the email attachment it says the fileis "corrupt".?>????? what is this and how can I fix it, and why did this happen? Thank you

Hi Cutemom,
It usually means the file is damaged and not readable.
A file is really a magnetic field. If it gets damaged in any way it can become gibberish to the computer.
Files can be repaired by re installing or sometimes with a defrag operation etc.

Most probably the file was not completely attached (maybe due to a communication error or a random alpha particle). The comp could not make sence of an incomplete file and called it corroupt.
Reattach and re mail the file- If possible zip before sending its slightly more reliable that way

what is the format of the resume? Is it a .doc or .txt? Have you tried compressing the file using WinZip or WinRar and then sending it? If you are using MS Word to create it then send email straight from within Word (File -> Send To -> Mail Recipeint) and see what happens that way. Hope this helps...

Open a domicile windows Explorer window. go with My computing device from the commencing up menu, as an occasion. go with techniques | Folder ideas... from the menu. On domicile windows Vista, carry down the Alt key to work out the menu. pass to the View tab. verify tutor hidden data and folders is chosen below Hidden data and folders.
