Well, I got in touch with my contact at Disney World to get a detailed answer for you about the busiest times in the park, and she told me that while there's no accurate way to gauge future attendance patterns at any of the Walt Disney World theme parks, patterns do, of course, emerge from past attendance.
As a rule, weekends tend to be a little less active than weekdays, though the difference is very slight. The most crowded times at all parks are obviously the holiday periods and holiday weekends, with the weeks around Christmas and New Year's being the busiest of all. Other peak periods include the summer months -- June through August -- when children are out of school and family vacations are planned. Individual holidays such as Valentine's Day, Easter, July 4th, and Thanksgiving, are also extremely busy.
But what YOU want to know is whether it'll be a zoo right now in mid-April, so I got some information for you on the specific times when the park is least (and most) crowded -- these, however, are representative only and are not to be construed as firm patterns.
Regardless, the least crowded times to visit Disney World -- meaning that there may be SOME lines, but by and large most attractions may be visited with minimal waiting -- are as follows:
The second week of January through the first week of February
The week after Labor Day until the end of September
The week after Columbus Day until Veterans Day weekend
The week after Veterans Day until Thanksgiving
The periods when Disney World sees "average" attendance - meaning many people are visiting but the line wait times are still fairly comfortable -- are as follows:
The first week of January
The second week of February through Presidents' weekend
The end of February through the third week of March
THE SECOND WEEK OF APRIL THROUGH THE FIRST WEEK OF JUNE
The last week of August through Labor Day
The first two weeks of October
Thanksgiving week through December 22
Finally, here are the official MOST crowded periods at Disney World -- meaning times when lines may form in all areas and wait times of an hour may be expected at the most popular attractions:
Martin Luther King Weekend
Presidents' weekend
The last week of March and the first half of April
The second week of June through the third week of August
Columbus Day weekend
Veterans' Day weekend
December 21 through (and including) New Year's Day
As you can see, the time you want to visit (i.e.: NOW) falls under the "average" attendance period -- which is both good and bad, I suppose. It's not the most crowded time, thank goodness, but if you could possibly hold out until the week after Labor Day, you might find it just a little less packed. Of course, that means putting your vacation off for a few months, so maybe that's not an option! You should be okay, though. And by the way, another thing to remember is that long lines as Magic Kingdom Park don't necessarily translate to long lines at Epcot or Disney-MGM Studios.
I hope this helps -- have a wonderful trip!

Disney should not be too bad this time of year. The good thing is spring break is over and parents are not taking their kids out of school to go on vacation. Disney is always hopping but, this time of year they do have less tourist and have some great deals going on to attract people to the park. I think you will be surprised at the small crowds. We like to go this time of year because it is less crowded. You will not have to wait long for rides, and you will have plenty of room to see the characters walking around. Good luck I hope this helps, you will really enjoy it this time of year. Plus it is not hot and humid down there and it is before hurricane season!

Even with the cloudy weather and on and off rain showers today, it is busy here in the town that Mickey built. We are coming off of Spring Break and the beginning of the summer rush.

it shouldn't be as bad because mostly all the spring breaks are over...so it shouldn't be as crazy as during christmas time or the summer....
HAVE FUN!
