Cub Fans . Baseball fans, what is your early read on the Cubs , I thought they would put up a few more runs?

then they are doing so far. I was a bot worried about their pitching and I am interested to know what you hear about Prior, has he pitched yet in the Minors? How has he done if he has done so. My dad lives in Chi Town and is a huge fan , we talk every night about them, I was just wondering what others are thinking? I live in Ny and am a huge Met fan and Baseball fan and like what I am seeing from them the Mets so far anyway , give me your thoughts. I would also be interested to know if this impending sale of the team is a distraction or is a positive and who you would like to see buy them. Do you agree that Ramirez , Lee and Soriano will provide enough pop to get carry them through a tough division. Also any reports on Wood would be apreciated. Thanks all constuctive thoughts would be welcomed.

Update:

So the general opinion is that Prior is done, what a bummer, I thought he was going to be one of thr great ones

Watching from the other side of town, here's my take:

Offense doesn't win championships, pennants or even divisions. I don't know much about the rotation up north, but I do know that it's Zambrano and 4 guys that could go .500 or worse. That probably won't get it done. The hitting always comes around, so Soriano will be ok. The Cubs will get the runs but they will be undone (much like today) with early runs given up by starters and the following pressure to play from behind. Wood will be ok out of the bullpen. Prior is done. I see him getting back to the bigs and getting shelled.

The Cubs are going to be fine once they get into summer. They killed the ball in the warm weather under the Miller Park roof. Prior is staying in Arizona for an extended spring training and then will report to the Iowa Cubs. Wood is also in Arizona though he is still rehabing from his injury. The sale of the team will not affect the team in any way, but it is slowing down negotiations between Zambrano's agent and Jim Hendry.

The Cub pitching is better that I expected so far. Kerry Wood has been relegated to the bull pen and has yet to make an appearance. Mark Prior is at Iowa (AAA) with no projected return. He can't stay healthy. Derek Lee is really hot. I think he is at over.400. The pending sale has no bearing on the players. They don't care as long as they get paid. And the real news is that Lou Pinella has not been ejected one time.....yet !!

Let's remember this is a 162 game season. Anything can happen, your Cubs can start to get hot anytime.

Just don't start to hate your Cubs because they aren't doing so well to start with. You and every fan out there should learn to realize... that every team is still in the hunt for the playoffs.

    :)

Its 6 games in. The cubbies are off to a slow start. The offense will pick up soon.
