    It depends on how long you've been doing it, or how often you feel compelled to do it.

    Some habits are easy to break, and just require a little bit of concentration.

    Some require intervention, and serious rehabilitation.

    Instantaneous but you need to want it enough. Put something on your nails that you think is repulsive and it will help. (dirt under the fingernails.) Popping, do something else that makes you feel good.
