O.K. public racism: Agree or disagree?

I posted this answer to another question and I wanted to get more feedback.

I wish more people would be publicly racist because I like to know who I'm dealing with. I like it all out in the open so I can decide whether to vote for this person, or not. To be friends with this person, or not. To punch this person, or not. I don't think we should hush people when they're telling us who they really are. We should listen.

Update:

Your honesty is refreshing! LOL!

I totally agree with you. It is better to know who you are dealing with. I don't think that you can change a true racist person's mind, but for your safety and peace of mind, it is better to know which direction the "bullet" is coming from. I think also that some people are not racists, they just have weird ideas because they have not been exposed to certain things and people, and open, honest dialog would help in those situations. Let's face it, some stereotypes are based in fact, not that they apply to everyone, but if you talk to people you may know where they come from. Due to past behaviors, I am distrustful of white people as a whole, but not necessarily on an individual basis unless there is reason for it. And I would like to know up front if there is reason.

Let me help you white people don,t love you . Now don,t let that stop you from dealing with them it is just the way it is . Let me ask you a question . Do you love them no but you don,t hate them I hope not any way . I don,t care how nice you are how pretty you are how much money you have at the end of the day you will still be a N to most of them. This is reality and the sooner you learn this fact the better off you will be and you wont get you feelings hurt so much. You can be the smartest person in your school and you will never be recognized as the smartest person in you school. LOOK at the many great things Oprah has done if she was not giving everything away to white people do you think she would be where she is at today. How many black people have gotten rich off of Oprah none now how many whites plenty. You are a black woman first everything else is second be the strong person you 4 fathers were and you will be alright

I think that people show it all the time in outward ways and don't really try to hide it.

I notice weird looks people give me when I am with my husband that they don't give me when I'm alone, and since he doesn't have two heads or anything, I can only infer that they think it's weird that we're an interracial couple. I've noticed it a lot more since we moved south a few years ago.

I think that ignorant people aren't really intelligent enough to hide their distaste for others, even if they don't walk around calling people names to their faces.

I have been a racist for most of my life....It is part of the culture of those around me.....Its a proud way of life...

Why I lived about thirty miles from a horse race park....

You could go every weekend and see racist as far as the eye could see...........I even went to the local dog races and it was the same.........racist.....racist....racist everywhere...

Oh Wait a minute.....I think I misread the question...

Can I get a doo over?

    That is a great comment!!

I agree with you wholeheartedly. It is much easier to deal with a person when you know exactly how they feel because you know where they stand. Maybe there's a chance that through conversation, you could change that perons views (if they are open and willing to listen).

I pretty much agree. If someone is willing to be honest about their biases, at least you have a chance to try and correct their thinking even a little.

"Come on, you think that's true for every single ______ in the world? EVERY one?" You can at least get a discussion going.

I don't agree. People need to learn to keep their personal feelings aside. We live in a civilized world now and it would be barbaric if people acted like children and complained all the time. They need to learn self control.
