Wyoming or Oregon?

So i am 19 in college and i got 2 job offers to wyoming and oregon, i have been to neither and barely been out of my home state of texas. I know for a fact wyoming is pretty sweet, but Oregon, i dont know about, i know there was a sweet game named after it called the oregon trail!! So Wyoming is gonna pay me about 4500 for the summer and Oregon is gonna pay me 6 for the summer. which would you choose, and remember in my case money is not the biggest motivater for me. I would probably go to the more cool place! although money is a plus!!!

Update:

the oregon ranch is in pilot point which is in the north east part.

the wyoming ranch is near glendo wyoming which is about 100 miles strait north of cheyenne if that helps!

I live in Oregon - a lot depends on WHERE in the state. It varies a lot within the area. Central Oregon (Bend, Redmond, Sisters, Sunriver) is dry and sunny and full of summering rich folks who are looking to get away from it all in their summer homes. Southern Oregon (Medford, Grants Pass, Ashland) is hotter and more polluted and has more retirees complaining about the government full-time. The Willamette Valley (Portland/Salem) thinks they are all the Oregon that matters and have most of the culture to prove it.

It's not all bad - Oregon has beautiful forests, lakes, coastline and rivers. The camping is great and the mountains are glorious. The people are nice and they drive more hybrid cars than in any other state in the US. Our employment rate kind of sucks right now so if you have a guaranteed job it's a great opportunity you have in front of you to get in to see what we have to offer. For one summer, what have you got to lose?

Edited: You mean Pilot Rock? That's real close to Pendleton, home of the Pendleton Round-Up - http://www.pendletonroundup.com/ - the largest rodeo in Oregon. Milton-Freewater is close by also, which hosts the Muddy Frogwater Festival - http://www.muddyfrogwaterfestival.com/ - every August, which is a fun little country festival. Walla Walla, Washington is about an hour's drive north (my parents used to live there when I was just out of college) and it's a growing winery community with lots to do in he summertime. All gorgeous country up there with forests and mountains and reservoirs. Gets a bit chilly at night but hovers right around the mid-70s to mid-80s during the day so it's pleasant for working out-of-doors. I hear the hunting is fantastic, although I've never been personally. The produce is wonderful, some of the best watermelon out there can be had in Hermiston, and Walla Walla is famous for their summer sweet onions.

    Good luck making your choice!

One thing I noticed with other responders is their failure ta' mention rain. Not comin' down on Oregonians at all for not the mention of it though. I worked a ranch outta' Toledo OR., for near a year and it reminded me of South East AK., a lotta' moisture from the skies... But other than that Oregon is one beautiful place as well as the people. I heard rumors that many Oregonians are prejudice towards people from Ca., but I had no problems at all, it's just like any other place, if your an A _ _ H _ L E, then you'll be treated as such.

    Having been to both...

Oregon is generally more liberal, especially in the cities. There is a lot more opprotunity for jobs and education in Oregon, but it'll be very different than Texas. Outside of Yellowstone, Oregon is more interesting geologically: It has volcanoes, forests, and a coastline. The oregon coast is always cooler temerpature-wise, whereas Eastern Oregon is drier and hot, though there are forests. Wyoming is...a lot like Texas with more extreme temperatures- I was there in September, in one day it went from the 'teens at night to the hogh 70s during the day. Yellowstone is pretty awesome.

    Cool Guy,

Easy for me to decide on this one. Wyoming has cool dry summers. The town of Glendo has a population of 300 people with the Glendo Reservoir and state recreation area, great summer water recreation and outstanding fishing. The Laramie Range is located only a few miles west of Glendo with peaks up to 11,500 feet. Just a great place to spend the summer, great ranching people and beautiful country.

I live in Wyoming so there is my vote! Which part of Wyoming would you be going to? The Wyoming job market is crazy right now. Unemployment is low and salaries are rising all of the time. Wyoming also offers lots of outdoor activities like hunting, fishing, hiking, camping, and horse riding. The scenery can leave a bit to desire tho. If you have any questions about the city or area you are thinking about please email me. Good luck!

**I live fairly close to Glendo.

Prejudiced because of the fact i'm from Oregon. So there lies my first answer, yet relatively i think of you are able to examine the areas based on your guy or woman pursuits. because you reported money isn't you're purely motivation it variety of feels to me the wisest first pass to soak up your section. You reported Pilot Rock and if your a climber (i've got slightly adventure) you will possibly check out a number of those opportunities. As has been reported many circumstances, you purely stay as quickly as. If it have been me i might decide for whichever held the main threat for journey. Don/Oregon

They're both nice. If you go to Oregon, however, be careful that you don't move to a liberal-infested area like Portland, Eugene, Corvallis or Ashland.

Most of Southern Oregon is very nice, as well as the coast if you don't get too close to Portland.
