Bad on so many levels...?

Am I the only one who thinks what happened in VA today is bad on so many levels. You have the whole immigrant thing (if he was in fact Asian). You have the gun control issue. And obviously the whole safety at school issue. And the way the police/school admins handled it. I haven't heard the lastest developments, but earlier, it sounded like this tragedy is going to be talked about for years to come.

Update:

I didn't necissarily mean immigration, but more like internationals coming here. I'm not trying to say anything negative, just wondering if this gives people more to gripe about with regards to immigration. I definately think there was more that could have been done after the first 2 murders. They could have done more than just send out emails to the students. If there as many police available to them as I saw on the TV earlier, they should have had enough to attempt to lock down the campus. If nothing else put an officer in every building or start a perimeter around the campus.

Doesn't matter what race he is, but what he done.

Don't blame the school or police, you have to realize that this act only took a few minutes. This school sits on 2600 acres, that is over 4 square miles, and has over 100 buildings. The school has over 10000 employees, 9000 people living in the dorms, and at that time of day had around 14000 students who live off campus that were in class or on the grounds.

So how do you lock-down 4 square miles, 100 buildings, and 30000+ people in a few minutes? You can't. This would be like locking-down a small town.

The truth is that anyone that really wants to do something like this, can do it before anyone has a chance to stop them. I would bet that some unarmed students/teachers tried to stop him, and were killed in the process, just like the hero's on the 911 plane.

We don't have all the facts. As far as this being an immigration issue, we don't know that this guy wasn't a second or third generation American. A gun control issue, just about anyone, anywhere, can get a gun(handgun or rifle), if he knows the right people and has the money. What scares me is what one of the FBI agents on MSNBC was saying. You can go on any number of web sites, buy different components of guns legally, and assemble them in the comfort of your own home. Noone knows have the gun or, more importantly, noone knows what you are going to do with it.

Source(s): Gun control is more than using two hands. Somehow there has to be a better way to keep firearms out of the hands of the unstable. There are so many ways to get your hands on firearms, legally and illegally. It really scares me and it should scare all of us.

It is bad on a lot of levels, and it will be talked about for a long time. I just hope that it starts the right kind of dialogue, and that the facts come out faster than the rumors.

It will not only be talked about for years, but it will happen again and again. We have seen that staring with the University of Texas, Columbine, Illinois, the sect in Penn, and now Virginia Tech.Until, guns, violent video games and the liberal left are silenced, it will continue.

I agree, I think this was really bad on many levels. I can't believe after they heard there was two killed by a shooting at their school, the school officials just figured they can still go on with classes. Honestly, what were they thinking?

All I saw is that he looked asian, that has nothing to do with immigrations. Plenty of Americans look asian.

okay noone knows for sure if he really was asian and that DOES NOT mean he was an immigrant so i think until we know more that is irrelevant.........but everything else you said i agree it is a horrific thing that happened
