    -[-2(x-3)-I-4I]=3x-5

    -[-2x+6-4]=3x-5

    -[-2x+2]=3x-5

    2x-2=3x-5

    2x+3=3x

    3=x

    Ok:

    -[-2(x-3) - I-4I] = 3x - 5 (I wasn't sure what I-4I was...if it's modulus then take this value as 4...but I reasoned that if you were stuck on this then you haven't come across that and just took it to be a bracket and to be - 4?)

    First expand the bracket -[-2(x - 3) - (- 4)]

    The negative sign gives: 2(x - 3) + (- 4) [As – x – = +]

    So you now have:

    2(x - 3) + (- 4) = 3x - 5

    Adding a negative is the same as 'minusing'

    2(x - 3) -4 = 3x - 5

    Now expand the last bracket

    2x - 6 - 4 = 3x - 5

    And simplify

    2x - 10 = 3x - 5

    2x - 5 = 3x

    -5 = x

    x = -5

    And there ya go! =D

    (If you're confused about anything in there feel free to e-mail! )

    Hope this helped =)

    EDIT: If |-4| was intentionally modulus then the answer is x = 3...(see posts above)

    x=3

    X=-42

    Here is how it works.

    -[-2(x-3)-[-41]=3x-5

    First do -2(x-3). That makes -[-2x+6-[-41]=3x-5Then since minusing a negative is the same as adding you have-[-2x+6+41]=3x-5.

    Simplify. -[-2x +47]=3x-5

    now, in the parenthesis you reverse the signs(since it is negative), so you have 2x-47=3x-5

    Now, you minus 2x from the right and left.

    -47=x-5

    Add 5 to each side. -42=x

    Hope this helps.

    p.s. The answer is not 3. instead of x i will put in the 3 for x.-[-2(3-3)-(-41)]=9-5

    Also, I can not tell if it is -1-41 or -[-41] either way x is not three. try it yourself.

    -[-2(x-3) - I-4I] = 3x - 5

    -2(x-3) - I-4I = 5-3x

    -2x+6 - I-4I = 5-3x

    - I-4I = - 1-x

    I-4I = 1+x

    x=3

    -[-2(x-3) - I-4I] = 3x - 5

    -[-2x+6-1-41] = 3x - 5

    -[-2x - 36] = 3x - 5

    2x +36 = 3x - 5

    41 = x

    Um. I got x = -3/5. But, I could be wrong.

    -[ -2(x-3)-l-4l]=3x-5

    -[-2x+6-4]=3x-5

    -[2x+2]=3x-5

    -2x-2=3x-5

    -2x=3x-3

    -5x=3

    x=-3/5

    It doesn't seem right. But, I tried. Sorry.

    2x-2 = 3x-5

    x=3

    -(-2x+6-4)=3x-5

    2x-2=3x-5

    -2+5=3x-2x

    3=x

    x=3
