Cannot install Shockwave Flash Player on Internet Explorer 6.0 ?
During the install from the official Shockwave page it stops at one point, asks me to check or uncheck an option for a google toolbar, then closes the Internet Explorer browser and starts over.
This computer will not allow a Windows Update for the same reason.
What could be blocking the installation and causing the install to stop, close the webpage, open a browser window and start the whole process over again and again and again....with no final result.
I know about Mozilla Firefox so please do not suggest I use a different browser. Thanks!

Clients computer had a system date of 2170.
This prevented Windows Update, McAfee Virus Install and Windows Defender install....
and forced Shockwave Flash install to loop and re-install.
Lesson Learned! Always check the system when you aren't able to install new applications and when your web browser consistently brings up Certificates for your approval saying they are out of date.

As far as I know you NEED to have IE shut down for plug-ins to install properly. IE uses certain files the installer needs to change and it can't be changed by one program if another is using it (most of the time, anyways)
Shut IE down and try again.
If that doesn't work re-download the install program and shut down IE and any other programs. Run the installer - the installer itself grabs the files, etc that it needs.

make sure you have the updated version of windows exploror retsart and try the offline installer
