can anyone tell me what papers i need as in risk assesments /safty cert etc for working on site with 6 empoyees

You don't actually need any papers as such. A good basic qualification in H&S would be the NBOSH course which takes a year to complete but this is not a requirement for general H&S management.
Common sense is the best ingredient to bring to do risk assessments.
Why not contact your local further education college to see what H&S courses they are doing.
