God creates light and separates light from darkness, and day from night, on the first day. Yet he didn't make the light producing objects (the sun and the stars) until the fourth day;
please explain, I'm just a poor scientist who doesn't understand the sheer absurdity of the bible

Actually you do understand it. The Bible is absurd. Anyone who actually reads the Bible will understand that too. It even says so in it.
In Psalm 119:130 we read that the Bible, called the Word of God, is understandable even to the "simple." In other words, even if the simple minded actually read the bible, they will realize that it is just fiction.

Well, that is because you really dont want to understand, and being poor at being a scientist. Don't mock what you do not know. If you really wanted an answer, it is there in front of you. You are just in the dark about it. You think that you must have everything explained to you to work it out in your human brain. Things that you would not accept even if they were told you. Again and again you refuse to believe, and again and again you strain at a gnat (things you wont believe in the bible) and swallow a camel (things evolution can not prove, or will be proven no matter how much matter and time you give. Even if you were to count all the atoms in the universe and give the age of the cosmos as one year per atom, it would still not be enough time for evolution to take place, for your mind can not conceive of or begin to fathom the sheer measure of that number. A bucket of slime would still be a bucket of slime, and and bacteria would remain bacteria, and amino acids would still be amino acids and all the time you could wish for wont change any of that.
However, God is LIGHT in the beginning He brought forth light from a source unknown today, and separated it from the darkness. Many have seen this as spiritual forces, yet this can not be the meaning, for it was to give physical light on the earth for living things to grow. God did it this way in an attempt not to cause Adam's descendants to worship the sun, yet eventually they did. God in producing the source of light on day 1-3 was the same light that was produce by the sun on day 4 of its creation. Possibly by the same method just in another way.
If God wanted to make it that way, what O' little man, or worm can contend with the way God wanted it done, for who are you to talk back to God. Be afraid of what you mock and speak against for you will not be held blameless of it. Think well what you blurt out as nonsense. You may find yourself the one who is doing the most of it.
It is not enough to "understand" what you believe is as "sheer absurditiy of the bible" it is for you to take hold of and believe and trust God. That is the bottom line, not your understanding because there is no way you can fathom it all, even if you tried!

As a scientist you should know the accepted events before stars were created RIGHT?. IN the beginning there was light—the light created by the fireball of the big bang. However, as the fireball expanded and cooled, the light shifted out of the visible region of the spectrum, plunging the Universe into a dark age. For millions of years, the Universe grew and grew a hundred times in size—but still the cosmic darkness persisted. What brought it to an end was the birth of the first stars and galaxies. Thought I would remind you if you forgot.

The "big bang" theory states that the first three things that were created after the moment of creation were energy plasma, sub atomic particles and light. Until around 50 years ago there was no understanding of subatomic particles and energy plasma so do you think a bunch of former slaves were going to grasp it. "Let there be light" was enough and is enough to show that the Bible is truth from start to finish.
"If I had no other data than the early chapters of Genesis, some of the Psalms and other passages of Scripture, I would have arrived at essentially the same picture of the origin of the universe, as is indicated by the scientific data." Nobel Prize-winning physicist Arno Penzias (Big Bang Theorist)

This account is written from the perspective of someone on earth. This solar system with a revolving earth was created. The ability to be able to SEE the sun and stars was not untill the 4th.

Photons were expected soon after the Big Bang. They aren't the sun, they are simply PHOTONS of light.
SUNS are made of gravity laden hydrogen that generates fusion.
Science says OUR sun didn't get made until 5 billion years ago, that's 2/3 into the creation of the Universe.
How do you justify that!
Oh and by the way that was the 4 day
That was 2/3 of the way to the 6th day when man came.
How do you rectify that one!
Science and RELIGION say 2/3 of the way
Except RELIGION said it 3,000 years ago

Better yet, he created the plants before the light-producing objects.
That doesn't make sense at all...especially if you buy into the nonsense about one of God's days equalling entire eras.

Genesis 1
14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. 16 God made two great lights—the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. 19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
-He made light, and then made the sun and moon to keep the day and night separate, to separate light from dark. Notice it says "Lights in the expanse of the sky" -sun and moon are marks to show us seasons, days and years!

lol I understand..people of science often have troubles understanding the mass hypocrisies that exist in most religions.
Primarily because we like things to make sense, or at least be reasonably sane, whereas sanity is not a priority for fundamentalists.
The person above me is a perfect example of my statements: I'm pretty sure darkness is not caused by the moon. Wow what an idiot.

God was the light. Pick up a Bible and see how many references to God and light there are.

God was the light producer of course. Look, it is impossible to either prove or disprove God's existence and questions like this only cause arguements and anger. Please, find a more worthwhile way to spend your time.
