What do YOU believe happens to a person when they die?
I've recently lost two very special people. I know what I believe happens with them when they die, but I'd like to hear what others have to say. Thank you. Please, no crackpot jokes, I'm still hurting from my losses.
Signal, I am not asking for sympathy! Only opinions of others. If you choose not to believe me, then why did you bother to answer? I know where you will go when you die.

First i would like to say i am very sorry for your loss. i know how hard it is.
I believe that when our physical body dies, we go to our creator. However I dont think that is the "end". I think if we want to, we can come back here and live another life, or possibly another life somewhere else. I know from personal experiance that the presence of our creator is peaceful. I hope you can find some comfort in knowing that our creator loves us all equally no matter what it was we believed on this planet in this life.

I'm sorry for your loss. =(
This is what I believe. The energy that makes me "me" (my spirit/soul, if you will) returns to the Universe when I die, like a drop of rain returning to the ocean. My spirit doesn't retain consciousness or cohesiveness - it once again becomes part of the Universe.
When another new being is born, the energy that makes it a unique individual (its spirit/soul) is drawn from that ocean of Universal energy. So some (but not all) of what used to be "me" may end up becoming part of someone or something else that is created after my death.
I also feel this helps explain some past life issues, like how many people can feel they were the same person in a past life - they may all have received parts of that person's energy. "Soul mates" may be the meeting of people in this life time who share the same energy from a past incarnation.
I don't believe in heaven or hell or "judgment" or even reincarnation in the traditional sense. But just as I feel that all the gods of the various religions and philosophies and mythologies are all aspects of the same Higher Power, I believe that our spirits/souls are all part of the same Universal Energy.
Energy does not die - they have only changed form. They will always be with you.

I'm very sorry to hear of your pain. I know how horrible it all is, and how unreal.
The temptation in a situation like this to build a comforting fantasy that dodges the worst of the agony is very strong, but it can and should be resisted. In reality, a body's a machine, and when it stops working, it stops being a person.
There are comforts in reality, too. Whatever your loved ones have missed out on by having their lives taken from them, remember that they have also missed out on pain and suffering. They have no more problems - it's we who are left behind who suffer.
I don't know if this applies to your situation, but if these were premature deaths, it's worth noting that there are advantages in leaving the party when it's in full swing:
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old;
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
This probably won't help, because nothing does.

I believe we experience what we expect to experience, for some time, and then are reincarnated after a while. Life isn't easy and it's filled with learning experiences. I suspect the life after our bodies die might be the same. I don't believe in Judgment and I'm conflicted on whether so much Order exists that we all experience the same thing in the same ways. I do believe in Karma though. I believe the Divine conforms to our expectations, but I'm not entirely sure what It has to do with us when we die. I'm pretty sure we reincarnate. But, if someone had strong convictions about their afterlife, I suspect they would spend some time there between lives.

No crackpot jokes, hon... I am there as well.....
When the circulation stops, the bacteria that digested their food, begins to digest them. Unless the person is embalmed, the digestion continues to induce rot. When the brain dies, consciousness ends, and awareness ceases... forever. The molecules that that person used during his/her lifetime get recycled again, just as what made them was used previously by some other group of living things.
We all feel pain at the loss of loved ones, and I as much as anyone.... parents gone, husband killed in a tragic sky diving accident. But the thought that there is a heaven or any after life is contrary to experience... simple as that. I rejoice that I had them in my life, and in a way, they continue to live in the thoughts of all of us who knew them. But death is final. Reasonable evidence suggests, that when we die, we cease to be....in every sense of the world.

i'm between the various Jehovah Witnesses. many human beings have self belief that any existence after dying would be in the two heaven or hell. yet have you ever theory with regard to the opportunity of the ineffective residing returned top right here on earth? in accordance to the Bible, resurrected ones would be between the meek who inherit the earth. (Psalm 37:11) 11 however the meek ones themselves will very own the earth, and that they'll surely discover their beautiful delight in the abundance of peace. (Psalm 37:29) 29 The righteous themselves will very own the earth, and that they'll stay constantly upon it. by potential of a few distance nearly all of people who've died would be resurrected to a paradise earth. (Psalm 37:11, 29; Matthew 6:10) area of the rationalization at the back of resurrecting some to heaven is to end God’s purpose for the earth. Jesus Christ and the a hundred and forty four,000 in heaven will gradually deliver obedient mankind decrease back to the perfection that our unique mothers and fathers threw away. this might incorporate resurrected ones, as indicated by potential of Jesus whilst he advised the demise guy impaled next to him: “you would be with me in Paradise.”—Luke 23:40 two, 40 3.

So sorry for your recent loss. What I believe happens after death is that the soul or spirit of the person lives on--but in a different plane of existence. This is a dimension that we, the living, cannot comprehend. Initially, during "a transition phase", their energy is strong but usually weakens over time. I take great comfort in thinking that my mother, who passed away, is still around me and watching over me.

I feel your pain, I just lost a very close friend just a few months ago and am still getting over it. But the truth is, there is no way to know what happens because we have never been through that! My advice to you is to read "90 Minutes in Heaven," by Don Piper, it helped me through difficult times of grieving just knowing my friend was with God and in a beautiful place! God bless!!!!

Well one thing is you will always feel pain for your loss. My father and grandmother died six days apart six years ago and I'm STILL learning to live with that because we all were very close. I do get a warm feeling as to where they went and that is comforting. I still can't play my family video tapes yet though.
