A good reason not to get vaccinated? 67 years old woman. Vaccine is for the flu (to prevent it)?

There are only two reasons why someone would catch a flu after getting a flue shot.

1. The shot did not contain the correct antibody for that particular strain of flue. Experts can only guess which strains will be dominant each year.

2. The shot takes a couple of months to become effective. If you wait too late in the year to get it, you could end up with the flu anyway.

Unless in contraindicated, you should get the shot.

Are you talking about the flu vaccines only? Well, I'm 27 and I have never had a flu shot and I've never had the flu. But, I know people who get the flu shot, but still manage to get the flu each year. That's good enough reason for me!

I would only REFRAIN from getting a flu shot at the age of 67 if I was allergic to one of the ingredients. Older people and people with chronic illnesses are at the highest risk for catching the flu, and it takes them longer to recover.

I have never had the flu either, but I have a kidney transplant, so you better believe I take it every year! I think at 67 it would be a mistake not to.

I don't know of ANY good reason not to get vaccinated for the flu, or for anything else to which you might reasonably expect to be exposed. To me, to fail to get vaccinated is just plain foolish.
