permanantly unlock doors on ford truck before driving?

I am having a problem with keeping the doors unlocked before driving away. it's a 2001 ford sport explorer trac. when i turn the key, and I start driving away, the doors automatically lock. I do not want it to lock. I HATE IT. There was no manual(bought it used and it didn't come with a manual) to do it, and the ford dealership will do it for $75, and it may not work. They have to do a computer check and it takes awhile to do it, and I would have wasted $75 if it doesn't work. I am on limited income, and would like to know if anyone can help me with this? Or if anyone can do this for free? Since I live in Tracy, CA. I would love to get this problem solved asap. I am getting very frustrated that I can't drive off without it locking up. I have broken my nails, bruised my left hand, all because it's making me very frustrated, that I can't get it taken care of. Please help me. I am at my wit's end on this. Losing sleep over this issue.

Update:

those that have responded, I am not obsessed with this issue.. I do realize that it is a safety issue. But I have no problem with it being a safety issue, but I do not want it at all. I will check into an auto mechanic to see if they can do it cheaper. Thank you for telling me about that. For the person that was rude-I don't have kids, I can't have kids. I am also 31 yrs old, with little patience for kids. So you were a bit rude on that. I do wear my seatbelt. For those that actually made sense-auto mechanic and 2T351. Thank you for your common sense answers. :-) For those that answered with sarcasm and flippant towards me. I hope that you go thru life that serves you well, especially with your attitude towards others' problems. You need to learn some communication skills.

Look at it this way. If you stop at a traffic light and a car jacker grabs your door handle you can thank your lucky stars that the doors are all locked and he can't get in. You're probably the same type who drives without a seat belt and has kids crawling from the back to front seat and back again while you're driving. The locking feature is there for your protection. Be thankful for it.

i own a repair shop and i have an idea, why don't you look at this as a safety feature,it could keep you from getting car jacked or loosing your vehicle,it can be undone but you have to find the solenoid that kicks the locks down or the one wire that comes from the computer that locks them,i have a dodge that does this also, and i hated it at first then i got to thinking about it,and its not a bad idea, but i have took a lot of them loose for people ,any good repair shop, that's good at electrical can do this for you,i charge around 40 bucks to do it,there's one wire in the drivers door that has to be disconnected ,and that puts a stop to it,,or it can be done also through the computer,so what the dealer is charging is a fair price for the job,id calm down though, if i was you, its only a vehicle ,and not worth getting upset over,as long as its something this minor i would be calm and get it taken care of,you,ll get it unhooked some way ,good luck hope this helps.

Son let me tell ya what!!! I raced a 34 Ford with mechanical brakes (would not stop the car after a mile down the road) and it had a hopped up Chevy Mill under the ,well I didn' have a hood, and the body was held to the frame with tie straps against a MustangGT 1985 model I think) and blew his doors off!!!!oh yea my windsheild was out and I didn't have any goggles and it held together. So go for it !!!!! Are you guys taking bets on this race/ I might be interested in coming down to THE GREAT STATE OF TENN. TO WAGER SINCE HALF OF MY BLOODLINE CAME FROM THERE !!!!!

Why are you finding this so difficult? Most cars today include this as a safety feature. You might be able to disable this, but why would you want to?

If it is really that big of a deal to you, check junkyards or eBay, for a manual.

It is a safety feature. What is the problem? You aren't locked in, but it sounds like you are obsessive.

take the fuse off for power locks...its in the manual...i dont know if u can download the drivers manual in the 'net for free. other stuff might not work though...most of the time they share the same fuse for courtesy lights, dash illum., etc...

Borrow a manual from someone & reprogram it.
