Size for an english mastiff height and weight?
Hi
i took my mastiff to the vet for her final shot and the very said she looked on the small side and was she a full pedigree! She is, as ive seen both parents. She is 19 weeks and 50lb. Is this normal? Her mum was around 10st and her dad 13st. Shes eating regulary (good quality dry complete food designed for giant breeds) and exercises in small amounts. Any info would be great!
Thanks and best wishes

just because she has a pedigree doesnt mean she cant be small for her breed.
a pedigree is just a recorded, pure, bloodline. it doesnt stop a mother dog having different size pups. While in some circumstances it can minimise them, it also doesnt stop pups with mutations, or pups with other problems.
an ideal size for a breed is a purely physical thing chosen as a reference for show dogs. perhaps only one pup in a litter is show (therefore breeding) quality. while the other pups will have the pedigree, doesnt mean they are good specimens.

They get huge & they eat a lot! The approximate height is 27 inches to 32 inches (70 to 80 cm) and weight is 80 kg to 90 kg (175 to 200 lb)According to the AKC they are the heaviest dog breed in the world according to the wikipedia search. It usually takes about a year to be full grown. There is also a book listed in sources that may be helpful.

As long as your dog is healthy & eating well, don't worry, no matter what the breed is, sometimes some offspring will be small or big... she is only 19 weeks, she may spring up in size or she may just stay on the small side !! Take Care
