Save our chocolate!!!?
In an effort to cut costs and deceive consumers, many of America's renowned chocolate manufacturers have asked the FDA to let them substitute vegetable fat instead of cocoa butter and milk substitutes instead of real milk in their chocolate-making process. We as consumers have until May 25 to send our comments and express our outrage to the FDA, click here to find out how: http://dontmesswithourchocolate.guittard.com/

I couldn't live with chocolate that tastes different because they change the ingredients. I also would get it then from Germany...or Switzerland and Belgium.
However, some people think that chocolate is not healthy. Well, they are wrong. Researchers found a lot chocolatty benefits...
The smell of chocolate may increase theta brain waves, resulting in relaxation.
Cacao, the source of chocolate, contains antibacterial agents that fight tooth decay. Of course, this is counteracted by the high sugar content of milk chocolate.
Chocolate contains phenyl ethylamine, a mild mood elevator.
So...eat chocolate and you don't need so many anti-depressants
Other benefits:
The cocoa butter in chocolate contains oleic acid, a mono-unsaturated fat which may raise good cholesterol.
* Drinking a cup of hot chocolate before meals may actually diminish appetite.
* Men who eat chocolate live a year longer than those who don't.
* The flavanoids in chocolate may help keep blood vessels elastic.
* Chocolate increases antioxidant levels in the blood.
* Mexican healers use chocolate to treat bronchitis and insect bites.
* The carbohydrates in chocolate raise serotonin levels in the brain, resulting in a sense of well-being.
And what chocolate won't do:
Studies show that chocolate is not a causative factor in acne.
* Cacao contains the stimulants caffeine and bromine, but in such small quantities that they don't cause nervous excitability.
* Chocolate is not addictive.
* Chocolate contains stearic acid, a neutral fat which doesn't raise bad cholesterol.
* Chocolate doesn't make you 'high'. You'd need to eat a huge quantity (about 25lbs at one sitting) to feel any noticeable effect.
Only two (2) negative sides:
1. Chocolate may trigger headaches in migraine sufferers.
2. Milk chocolate is high in calories, saturated fat and sugar.
So, migrane sufferes...don't eat chocolate...sorry
and people on diets, just don't eat milk chocolate
We all should copy and paste this information into the comments field of the FDA...hey..don't mess with us

I thought the government was trying to BAN transfats. After reading this, sounds like they'll be adding them to the "new" chocolate. This is horrible. What else are they going to take away from us?!
If this does happen, I'll just pay double or even triple price and buy the good imported Cadbury chocolate from England. :) I will miss Hershey bars though.

Good God! Now they're after chocolate?? Hadn't heard that. Who the He** regulates what we eat? We should be able to eat whatever we want. I don't need Big Brother breathing down my neck if I have a piece of Toblerone. What is this world coming to?

I think the decline of the world's bee population is the most important problem facing chocolate production these days.....

Thanks for the info. Not a question though. Is there something wrong with the chocolate that has vegetable fat or milk substitutes?
