Anyone have a toddler who wanted to sleep all day?
My daughter woke up today and didn't want to eat or drink. I took her to the doctor and the doctor said everything was fine. But all my daughter wants to do is sleep. She is 21 months old. All she wanted today was to sleep. Is this normal? Has anyone had experience with children feeling under the weather and not wanting to eat and only wanting to sleep. Please help. Thank you.

That is not normal behavior for your little toddler. Try to keep fluids in her. I bet she is pretty clingy when she awakens also. If that is the case, she is probably coming down with something. Watch her. She may develop a fever or a runny nose. Take her back to the doctor if her fever persists or gets above 101. You have described my daughter when she was a toddler and even now. Even though in elementary school, she follows that same routine. If she is starting to get sick, she will fall asleep early or not want to get going and sleep for long periods of time. Then she becomes clingy. Soon after that, she gets sick. I hope that will not be the case for yours. Maybe she is just really tired.

The only time my son has wanted to sleep all day was when he was sick with a tummy bug. There are others day where it is a bit hot where he layed down a fair bit, but he still had quite a few bursts of energy. You know if your child is not her normal self and if she is still like that tomorrow, I would take her back to the doctor.

sounds like she's just not feeling good. give her another day or two to start exhibiting symptoms but trust that mommy gut if you start to get really worried and take her back to the doc. Usually when my kids do this, they start throwing up the next day.

Any body would want to sleep if they felt ill. She's also growning fast and may just need some extra rest.
