Stamp Collecting?
Does anyone still enjoy this hobby? I have been excited about starting a new old hobby I once enjoyed as a kid- Other than E-bay where does one find quality stamps?
Thanks for your answers- I just started again and am trying to remember some of my favorites- I am trying to stay with U.S. and some topicals like/ Bicyckles/ Disney/ and Wonders of the Americas and Greetings from America and commemorative collections yearly! Do most from E-bay was wondering why no shows any more? I am in K.C. Mo. area

There seem to be more in Missouri than in Kansas. There's one weekend after next in Fenton. There's one in Wichita in June.

Ebay is one source but it can get expensive. Depends on what country you're in, but you can probably find dealers who will sell "kiloware", or bulk stamps by weight. In Australia, I've bought some nice mixtures from Kevin Morgan, Charlestown Stamps and the Bible Society. Mostly they're on paper and you have to soak them off yourself, but if you don't and are willing to pay more, you can try to find off-paper mixtures.
With the duplicates, you can try to find people in other countries who you can swap with. Look around on the internet, but be careful as there are a few fraudsters around amongst the many honest collectors.
Another way is to try and find a local stamp dealer where you can go to their shop and inspect their stamps before you choose to buy. That's best reserved for filling in holes as it can get very expensive to buy stamps individually.
Finally, if you're lucky you may be able to find a local stamp club. They should be able to give you better and more personal advice. If not, try web sites like Stamporama or Virtual Stamp Club where you'll find some very friendly and helpful people who can give you further advice.
Note: Always use good quality albums made by reputable brands as this will give you the best chance of preserving your collection.

I still enjoy this hobby. I think you shouldn't hesitate to start your new old hobby. If you once enjoyed collecting stamps as a kid maybe you have old stamps that might be valueable today. Maybe someone else can find quality stamps from you. I hope you enjoy your hobby very much!!

Yes there are many "stamp collectors" still enjoying this hobby. I operate a "STAMP CLUB" in which members send in sheets of stamps to me, and I send out other members sheets to them, and they keep what ever they want and return the rest . This club has been operating for over 20 years. with many very happy members.
I was similar to you and collected as a youngster, and at the loss of my wife I restarted my old collection and it brought me out of my depression and I now have over 56 albums of stamps most build by the club. The only cost to members is postage both ways and a $1.00 yearly "maintainance" fee.
If this is of interest to you please e-mail me at garstamp@yahoo.com
Hoping to hear from you I remain a

for years stamps were traded and purchased by mail and auction... the best source now are individuals that are holding collections with no ready buyers around ...a small add should bring you some results...I still enjoy collecting stamps ..but have stayed away from most issued after 1970.....I nave concentrated on western hemisphere air mail and have found it a very rewarding area of collecting

Not just that - I have it "in" for more that 25yr, and grow from collector to small dealer. many time, like collector, I received stamps that I almost have, and that "pushed" me to start selling and collecting.
When I offer quality stamps, I do it by direct contact, and this way, I "filtered" contacts with collectors "who know what philately is"!
I will prefer You same - try to find one-two trusted supplier with whom You can establish one fair and long-term contact.
And yes - APS Stampstore!
best regards
