Are there actually Americans who support this Iraq funding bill that has a troop withdrawl deadline?
I mean besides those in the Congress. I personally don't worry much about politics but when politics undermine the success of a war, the future of the Iraqi people, and the saftey of our Country, this outrages me!
I mean honestly do we want to give up in a year or less? I mean are we honestly prepared to surrender and say taht we were unsuccessful? Do Americans actually careless about the Iraqis and the success and saftey of the Nation and the citizens living there? Do Americans really support bipartisan politics to control and make military decisions?
I SAY!
Allow the U.S. Generals and people on the ground make military decisions lets support our troops and give them the funds they need to protect our country, themsleves, and the Iraqi people.
I have not met a single person, Christian, NonChristian, Democrat, Republican, Independent or otherwise that supports this bill. Isn't congress supposed to be representing what the American people want?
REGARDS TO NeoFrehley,
If the people who support this bill in D.C. really do not want any more American troops to die in Iraq, then bring them home now, why wait? They are waiting because they aren't concerned about the American Troops, about America's saftey, nor about the Iraqi people's saftey. Its a political move, not a military or caring one.
Second, a LOT has been accomplished. They have Iraqi police, dozens and dozens of terroist are being stifflied. People's lives are being saved through medicence and military presence. Infrastructure is being restorted, and some schools are running better then ever.
The ONLY reason I posted this in R & S because I have developed relationships/reputation in the R & S section plus the R & S section has a lot more traffic then the politics section and I knew I could get a variety of opinions.
Thanks for your respones.
I appreciate those who put a lot of thought in their regarding their support of a withdraw. You have helped me see things that I did not see before though I do not completely agree with you. This war is screwed up. But I don't think this war is over. We can be successful. We are moving in the right direction. The troops just NEED our support and so do the Iraqi people.
May God protect our Troops. May God lead our government leaders to make the best decision for all parties involved. May God protect the Iraqi people. May he strengthen the Iraqi people to protect themselves and give them the wisdom to enstill a successful form of government for the Iraqi people.

first of all, Bush has actively undermined the military commanders that you insist be let to make the decisions. If Bush won't let the generals command, he needs to be put in check.
Bush was the one who has been undermining the success of the war. His incompetence needs to be over-ridden. Ideally, he should resign.
the funding/deadline bill may not be the perfect way, but there is no point in trying to appease the warmongering madman in the White House.
Regardless of American feelings toward the Iraqi people, it's not our job to try to referee a civil war. Iraq was never our business to begin with; the US has trasditinoally allied with far worse than Husseain and Conservatives never had a single problem with that.

I find it very interesting that you post this question in the R&S section instead of the Politics section. Is it because you think that good Christians should support war? Is it because you are clinging to the notion that your supposedly Christian President has been a good President?
Wake up! This war was a huge mistake. Our soldiers are dying needlessly, and our military presence in Iraq only fuels the hatred for us.

The latest survey said that only 12% of Americans believe that we will 'win' the war in Iraq.
I guess you don't talk to the majority. Not that the majority should rule- but we're not even at war with Iraq. We are a police force trying to prevent a civil war- which has been brewing for hundreds of years.
How much more of your children's future do you wish to spend on keeping the Sunni's and Shiites from killing each other? Nobody wants to see a blood bath, but I fear it's inevitable.

There's no decent way out of this now, Bush has screwed things up so badly, it's a clusterf*ck
I'm not crazy about deadlines, but that type of culture is very different than what we are used to here. They take forever to accomplish things and if we don't make them stand on their own and stop killing each other, either by deadline or some other option, we will be ther forever and it makes me sick every time I hear of an American soldier dying over there for pretty much idiots who can't stop fighting themselves over stupid religious crap

At some point we have to admit defeat. We cannot "win" this war. It's time to stop losing it.
I don't necessarily support this bill, but I think we have spent too long doing something completely useless. Once we got Sadam out and showed our support we should have let the Iraqis have their country back.

OK who would NOT support bringing our troops home from a war they have no chance of 'winning'?
Iraq is no threat to the US (and never was). The US is a definite threat to Iraq.
How many people need to die before everyone sees how foolhardy the whole thing is?

A year?
We've been there for 4, or have you been living under a rock? I personally would rather see Americans killing less Iraqis, so YES, I support the withdrawl.

Unfortunately, there are folks who want to surrender. They don't think that the US is good enough to win a war and they don't respect the desire of the military to finish what they started.
I can't express how sad this makes me feel for our country...

Why should we fund our soldiers to help the same iraqi people who are trying to kill them?
Do you really care so little about the lives of every american soldier in iraq? You'd rather them stay longer & risk losing more of them for nothing? What is being accomplished over there... aside from getting innocent people killed & making them hate us even more than they hate us now?!

If you ask me I think the big wigs in Washington are getting a bit to big for their britches. They fancy themselves "moral authorities" when they themselves ain't got a winks worth of sense. I'd sooner put our fate in the hands of honest fools then those jack@sses. Some of those trunk noses (republicans) ain't much better either....
If we set out to do something lets d@mned well see too it that its done and done the right way. Our armed forces can do almost anything, as long as spineless yellow bellied politicians keep their noses out of military affairs!
Later days.
