Do Americans feel a high degree of entitlement?

I asked an earlier question about charitable giving and one response mentioned that we shouldn't be made to feel guilty about NOT giving to third world nations.

I disagree.

I think that we're blessed to be living in this country. But think about this...if we dug down in our pockets and SACRIFICED, we could save lives and improve the situation of people who are not so blessed.

Christians, perhaps, should be giving even more than the typical American, for Jesus proclaimed that we should avoid wealth, and He commended the widow who gave all she had.

So, do we feel entitled to be where we are? Are we of the opinion that we've worked hard for this money and its our own? Or do we support Bono and others fighting poverty with our actions as well as our thoughts, giving so much it hurts? What's the right thing to do?

Have you visited America? Americans feels entitled even when they are in someone else's country. I think Americans feel that they are born into entitlement. Sometimes I think they can't help it.
