Experience with the Macbeth curse...?
I am looking for some first hand accounts with the "Macbeth Curse" in theaters and live stage performances. Anyone had the curse fall upon them or were in a performance that it did? I would love to hear about it...please share.

Not that I myself am prone to believe it [though I am scrupulous about not saying Macbeth in the theatre] I did work on a production where an actor said the dreaded title and refused to perform absolution.
Probably just a coincidence, but he came down with Hepatitis A and missed half the run!
YMMV

Yes, I've had first-hand experience of it. After having been in two productions of "Macbeth" (in which nothing out of the ordinary occurred), I had the opportunity to direct a university production of the show. At our first rehearsal, I told the cast that the first person who wasted a minute of my rehearsal time with "curse" nonsense would be replaced immediately.
Strangely enough...nothing went wrong, and the production was a rousing success.
The "curse" is, in my experience, something that is perpetuated by wannabe theatre people who just think it's "cool" to belong to this particular club.
You have to remember that "Macbeth" is a play in which several scenes occur in the dark, and several scenes contain vigorous physical action. It stands to reason that accidents have happened...and will continue to happen. Listen, I'm sure that a whole bunch of chorus dancers have injured themselves performing "Oklahoma!", but nobody ever talks about THAT "curse"...

The Macbeth cures is only real if you let it be...I ran lights for my H.S. production of Carousel this last spring and just to prove everyone wrong every time I had a light cue I would utter the dreaded "M" word..it was one of the best shows my school has ever put on! nothing went horribly wrong and it was great fun..the real curse that no one knows about is "singing in the rain" that was out fall musical and every time we ran the whole show something major broke or went wrong examples include-opening night the front curtains broke and wouldn't open or close..they just stayed stuck halfway open, 3 shows in one of our main supporting characters took a clipboard in the mouth and had to go get stitches in the middle of the show and 3 nights before we closed the hardwood floor we put down to tap on ripped up during make 'em laugh

Ah yes, I remember it well. Someone said the dreaded "M" word right before he went on stage and, of course as he enters he trips and rips his costume. While this was Hysterically funny to me, It just goes to show, don't scoff at the "M" word.

It was a dark and stormy night on opening night. 10 minutes into the play, all the power went out on the block. But only on that one block.
