  • How to get birds to go away...?

I just moved into the city and I have lots of well established trees in my yard, which is great. However, there are many birds living in these trees and starting at about 4:00 in the morning, they are keeping me from getting some much needed sleep. Is there a way to get them to move on that is safe to use in the city (ie no shotgun ideas here)? If they sounded nice and peaceful that would be fine, but they sound like a bad electronic facsimile of a bird singing. It is quite awful. Any suggestions for me?

  • Good food to eat in the car?

We are getting ready to leave on vacation and I am making sack lunches for everyone (adults -- no kids). What are good recipies for snacks that are car friendly? We are having turkey sandwich wraps, all different kinds of pretzels (twists, long sticks, reg small and large). It is a long trip so some more ideas would be fantastic :)

P.S. We don't want to do fast food if at all possible, so healthy car friendly is what I am looking for :)

  • I want a basic digital camera...?

I want a camera that I can take on vacation and that will take good snapshots. It doesn't need to have high functioning bells and whistles because I have a really nice digital camera for that. I just want something small, compact and each to carry around that gives me great vacation photos. Also, I want something affordable, since I already have one digital camera... thanks :)

  • Pirates 3 question (SPOILERS!!)?

Um...what is the significiance to the boy in the beginning being hanged and it being the same boy that plays Will and Elizabeth's son in the end? Are we supposed to assume that their son is hanged? Is that beginning scene in the future? Were they cheep and, in making a poor judgement call, used the same little singing boy? What is up with that? Thanks

  • List of the most important books to read?

I am looking for a list of the "books you have to read before you die." A list of books in the canon, so to speak. Does anyone know where I would find such a list? Any list of recomended reading would be appreciated. Best, most complete list (or web page link) "wins" the best answer.

  • Gardening in an apartment?

I live on the third floor of an apartment building. I don't have space in the front that is protected from the other tenents and my back porch is 90% shade (there is a gordeous tree that keeps it cool). I was wondering what types of plants do well in the shade and that can be kept in pots since I am on the third floor. Also, I will probably be moving at the end of the summer and want to take them with me, so something that travels well.

  • Proof for the Macbeth curse...?

I am doing a paper on curses and how they effect plays being performed. I was wondering if anyone knows of Proof for the "accidents" in Macbeth performances. Newspaper articles, pictures, actual documented accidents. If you know where I can find information like this it will be greatly appreciated.

  • Dining and Dancing in Denver...?

So, my best friend and I are going to spend a weekend in Denver for a much needed girl's getaway before she gets married. This is the situation that spawns the following question:

If Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe were in Denver at the end of May, where would they go, what would they do, where would they eat?

I have a hotel already, but need suggestions for the best places to shop, eat and entertain ourselves like old school Hollywood Starlets.

    Thanks for the suggestions...

  • I'm a Sagittarius and I have some questions...?

A guy I work with randomly asks me when I birthday is, I told him, November 26, and he says, "sagittarius, figures." I am not all that involved with my sign and horoscope and want to know why he would say something like that. When I ask him he just shrugs his shoulders. What is the big deal about being a Sagittarius?

  • How do I write these in standard MLA format?

I am putting together a paper for my college Shakespeare class and my MLA handbook is in a box someplace. I can't find how to do these for sure online. Help???

    1) I have a text book where I quote both the author and reprint quotes from Freud. How do I site this? Do I site them as two seperate items? Also, in the body of my paper do I use both (") and (') when I quote a quote?

    2) I am quoteing from Taming of the Shrew that is anthologized in my complete works. How do you quote an anthology?

    3) When I am quoting Shakespeare in the body of my paper, don't I do it like this (I.i.47-52) as in (act.scene.lines)?

If anyone just has a website that has these handy-dandy rules on it that would be great too.

    Thanks...
