Minimum Wages?

I am looking for a summer job and was wondering what the minimum wage is in PA. I searched for this online, but found a lot of different numbers. Also, does the state minimum wage apply or federal minimum wage apply? Thanks.

Update:

I know that the wages are going up, or have gone up, I would like to know what they are or went up to

The Federal minimum applies unless the State minimum is higher in which case the higher applies. There are some jobs with tips that don't pay minimum, however, on the theory that the tips make up the difference.

For most employers, the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, Act 112 of 2006 (Act) increases Pennsylvania’s minimum wage from $5.15 per hour as follows:

To $6.25 per hour effective January 1, 2007.

To $7.15 per hour effective July 1, 2007.

Until December 31, 2006, the Pennsylvania minimum wage remains at $5.15 per hour.

The above is for businesses with more than 10 employees. If 10 or less employees, the rates are different. And tipped employees have different rates. Check out dli.state.pa.us/landi/cwp/view.asp?a=142&Q=64690 for more info.

it really is precisely how i imagine about elevating minimum salary. human beings do not imagine. Why is fee of living low-priced in certain states or cities, yet so expensive in others? the answer is the minimum salary. you could't purely improve one mission and go away each and every thing else the way it develop into.

federal always over powers state, however if the state is higher I would imagine it must be if its not the same as fed then it would apply. fed min wage is $5.15
