I think I have adult ADHD what do you think?
These symptoms below are 100% me all the time and I'm in a position where I might lose my jobs because of these issues.
Chronic procrastination or trouble getting started
Starting projects but not finishing them, poor follow through
Enthusiastic beginnings but poor endings
Spends excessive time at work because of inefficiencies
Inconsistent work performance
Difficulties falling asleep, may be due to too many thoughts at night
Difficulty coming awake (may need coffee or other stimulant or activity before feeling fully awake
Poor organization and planning, trouble maintaining an organized work/living area
Chronically late or chronically in a hurry
Often have piles of stuff
Easily overwhelmed by tasks of daily living
Poor financial management (late bills, check book a mess, spending unnecessary money on late fees)
because of my disorganization, failure to follow procedures, and more of the above issues I am being audited at my job and fear I may lose it. I am a person of integrity but my actions stemming from my symtoms makes those around me think differently. Not having my priorities in order and neglecting things unintentionaly. I have tried task lists, calenders, etc. and nothing is changing. Has anyone been diagnosed with this condition as a adult because they didn't realize what was wrong until later in life and once discovered had a huge turnaround with therepy and medication? I want to hear your experiences. Please I need help.

I think one of your "symptoms" is the root of the problem - poor organization. It leads to being late and procrastination which leads to a build up of overdue tasks that make you feel overwhelmed....when you feel uncomfortable like that it can make it hard to sleep easy...which obviously makes it hard to wake up and will make you tired during the day. Being tired just further contributes to the poor performance. It's a vicious cycle but it isn't a disease.
Being disorganized isn't a disease. You just have to make a conscious choice to dedicate yourself to getting organized and stick with it. I think everything else will improve once you get organized.
Best of Luck!

Adhd is having a lot of stimuli coming t the brain and the brain is unable to prioritize or put into a manageable order so the person is unable to concentrate on one subject or obtask for is constantly being flooded with stimuli. If I were to read a book I can have the book start reading and lose myself in its pages but a ADHD person will start readingbut then a noise will distract thats coming from the immediate enviroment and his.her attn will be diverted away from the book and to the noise but then simthing from the sidevision may distract from the book and the noise and then a sound from outside the room and then a picture on the wall and so on and so but you get my drift of how the brain is unable to keep the stimuli from jumping to the forefront of thought so the person is not able to hold concentration on anything for any length of time.Anything that has to do with order, managing, concentration, schedules dates etc is difficult and that is just theADD then you ad the H for Hyperactivity and the person can't sit still or stop talking or fidgeting etc. The only way to know is to go see your faamily doctor if not have one go see a Family MDDotor-but only MD.There are several medications that work wonders for those having this condition for they slow down the brain activity nad it actually enables the person to keep attention on one thing, able to put stimuli in some order and able to read a book without being constantly distracted. The medication will also determine if you have the condition for improvement will only happen if you have ADHD. Do yourself a favor-just takes a doctors appointment approx Max 1hr but it can chanage your whole life. Sometimes there is also therapy encouraged where you can be taught how to manage yourself so projects and tasks at work do not overwhelm you for that can happen to those with no ADHD. The most important thing you an do is to keep a daily Routine schedule-like a daily planner of your days events and the times and then a separate planner for work where for example a projct you list step by step what you have to do and then follow it by chking off as you complete each task. Have worked with lots of Children, teens with ADD and ADHD in Therapeutic Fostering and often the best rslts wee when medication and therapy combined. But it was near miraculous when a child with ADHD first took medication-everything improved-home behaviour, school behaviour, grades and even friends the child was able to make for most do not make friends for unable to concentrate on someone else long enough.I would make a appt ASAP

sounds a lot like me. well i think im normal and dont need any medication, just gotta be a little more organized. You need to train your brain to function better, you dont need medicine thats what the doctor will tell you though, there's a pill out there for just about everything, they just want to make some money. I found that with a lot of patience and hard work you can recover by yourself ( I did). Learn self-motivation start simple and work your way up to harder challenges (like finishing something that you start). You will be okay dont panic. I hope this helps you out and good luck!

hi, I even have extreme grownup ADHD, and issues do take place lots extra many times than as quickly as each week. it relatively is genuine that a good number of the behavdiour isn't under his administration, yet he can do issues to make existence extra tolerable for those around him. medicine is the massive key. ADHD is a mediccal subject and itt demands scientific treatment. He won't be waiting to compliment to no longer be agressive butr he can pick too takle medicine to regulate it. you should be upfront with him. His behaviour is unfavorable the kinfolk and if he isnt arranged to take medicine to help average his behaviour then his kinfolk should not be arranged to continuously positioned up with the abuse. If he cares as lots approximately his kinfolk as they seem to care approximately him then he will evaluate medicine. If he's already on medicatio then it desires to be relooked at to make helpful it relatively is effectual adequate. on the cases the place he states he doesnt have any administration he desires to get rid of himself from his companion and youngsters so as to no longer harm them He won't be waiting to do this wherein case you should get rid of your self. If he gets offended merely state which you will return quickly whilst issues are calmer and you will be able to communicate this added. in case you state which you will return quickly and stay opeen to him it is going to calm him.

You could have ADHD
Its best to talk to a doctor to be sure. There are tests online you can take, but you got to remember those are internet tests .
If you couldn't read most of these answers all the way through that is a sign you have it.

I used to be exactly like you, and like you I tried to find some excuse to make out that it was out of my control, ADD, ADHD whatever I could think of but the truth was I was just plain lazy, it took me my grandfather to make me realise this. Your poor organisational skills are not part of the problem, some people just don't have that ability, find your strengths and work on them one thing at a time.

Probably not, but a doctor would be the best one to consult. These simply sound like signs of not being organized.

I believe you have a bipolar disorder. That is alos known as manic-depressive disorder. Go to a psychiatrist to give you medications. Valproic acid could be used in such conditions but there are a lot better drugs than that these days.

i would say yes!! having add as an adult is easier to deal with because we can develop coping strategies that work well. talk to your gp about it. they may be able to suggest support groups, or start you on medication.
