When I analyze life, I can't find any rational evidence that there is any purpose to this life?

It is possible that our existence is some kind of mistake or a failed science experiment? Why are we here and what are we really supposed to be doing? Please no religion, only facts and logic. Thanks!

I'm afraid you are guilty of either being a little careless with your language or contradicting yourself.

PURPOSE implies intent. Things only have a purpose if they were done by an entity with intelligence. What is the purpose of the Moon? Only the person who built it and put it there can answer.

Any discussion about the purpose of life, then, MUST include (or exclude) the entity which may or may not have created it. Which is the Divine for most people.

Perhaps what you meant to ask about instead was MEANING. Meaning is often derived from things without purpose - it is more about reaction and inference of an intelligence than that of the Prime Mover. As such, I believe that there is an intrinsic and logically derived MEANING of life, even if it has no purpose whatsoever.

If that's what you're after, it's easy enough to do a search and find my - and many other people's - answers to that one. But the only PURPOSE I've got is excluded by the rules of this question.

    Sorry.

I have many theories on why we exist. I'm Wiccan now because I couldn't find any rational explanation to religion. I figured it was only here to make us take comfort in some kind of afterlife. I could spend days talking about theories. I can't exactly give you much facts, but I can give you some well thought out theories. To most they will probably sound crazy though...

One of these theories is that we are some kind of experiment to see what life would be like if it were like this. Maybe thats why people believe in religion and think there is some higher power looking out for us. They're watching us to see what we will do.

Another theory is backed up with science. It's the theory of evolution. I do think we were probably from some long line of animals that ended up like us.

I have some more but I really wont bother you with some crack storys about how we came to be.

About why we are here, I can't really answer that, I'm still trying to figure that out myself. I don't think your going to get an answer to that question that you'll like. I'm real good at over analyzing every part of my life, thinking and rethinking things. I think that we all just make what we can of life. I'm trying to live life the best I can under the iron fists of my parents. I have no social life, so I can't really enjoy what little time I have here as well as I can. I would love to make every part of my life as fun as possible but I can't until I turn eighteen in a few months. All I can really say is instead of trying to spend every waking moment wondering about how we can to be, think of what your going to do with the time you have. I think after we die out spirits survive, but I don't want to risk it. If you, like me, can't help but wonder about this then you can go ahead and message me more about it.

I guess it is possible that our existence is some kind of mistake or science experiment (why would the experiment be considered a "failure"?)

Biologically, our purpose is to pass along our genes. Beyond that, what makes a "good life" is entirely up to the individual. There is no single correct answer to why we are here and what we are supposed to be doing. In this thread alone you will see a variety of answers to why? and what?, all of us thinking ours is at least better than the rest, none of them really any better than the rest.

Are you and ostrich? Why did you ask a question then say you don't want to hear the truth? Fact; Your purpose in life is to awaken to your true self. I will only give you one more fact. You already know that there is Greatness within you. The only way to obtain the truth you seek is through Spirituality. I wish you well in your search. PS one more fact; what you seek can not be fully understood by the mind with its logic, it must be experienced within the heart.

Looking at it strictly rationally, I think it is hard to find a pre-destined purpose for any of us. Perhaps we are here by mere chance.

If this is the case, we can create our own purposes. We're here, so let's decide the best way to live, the best way to spend the time we have. I think everyone wants to be happy. So you could say that a worthy purpose in life would be to try to create happiness for many people. This in turn, usually generates happiness in yourself.

As you continue to mature and grow in knowledge you will realize that there is no answer to your question.

The realty is that we are. We can waste our time wonderig and fail to live life to it's best and leave the understanding to come to us when we die and pass on to the spiritual side of reality.

I just can't imagine we are some failed science experiment.

There is a sense of peace if we let go of the questions and and live life to its best and hope to find out the reasons when we pass out of our eartly bodies

So perhaps there is no purpose. Would that be a bad thing?

Then we'd each have the opportunity to chose a purpose for ourselves if we wanted. That's kinda cool, I think.

And as for the 'experiment' idea, that suggests a 'creator'. And perhaps there isn't one of those either.

Time for a bit of independence I think, don't you?

Well of course you can't my dear! Who the heck ever told you that life is supposed to be rational! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha!!! Start looking from a different perspective and you will find the purpose. But it sure isn't rationality!

The purpose for any living thing is procreation of the species. Any other thing is something made up by humankind who wants to have more of a purpose than that.

    please do it :

    Take deep breath ,

Close your eyes , imagine our small planet called Earth , and see the LIFE in it , look at the life in big view , what do you think ?

Look at life in Earth with you eyes , what do you see? , look in the mirror directly in your eyes , what do you think ?

Look at people when they are smiling like this :-) , what do you see? , go to the shore and look in the sea , what do you think ? , then look up to the sky , what do you see ?(do not look directly in sun , it is dangerous ) , then try to watch birds , what do you think ?.

Then make any contribution , what do you feel? and think why you feel it? .

hug those you love , what do you feel ?, think why do you feel it ? .

What you SEE & THINK are FACTS & LOGIC .

maybe you will find the reason. :-)

by the way , you can replace think & see it really does not matter.
