Dog doesn't want to move and flinches from gentle pressure in lower rib cage on both sides. Any ideas?
We will take hime to the vet if he doesn't recover in a day or so.

It sounds like your dog has an intestinal blockage. Don't wait to take him to the vet. A short delay could prove deadly.

Take to the vet now. It sounds like the dog got hit by something. Possible broken ribs or worse.

A few weeks ago, my mom's puppy had the same symptoms that you are describing. Come to find out, the dog had been hit by a car and his back was broken. Unfortunately, since the back surgery was almost $3,000.00 and the vet could not guarantee that the dog would survive, we had to put the puppy to sleep.
I hope this is not the case with your little baby, but I would definetly try to get him to a vet ASAP.
Best wishes.

I agree w/ taking you dog to the vet as soon as you can. Call ahead & let them know you are coming, and how your dog has been reacting. It could be a cracked rib, bladder stones, or a blockage of some sort. Could he have eaten something he shouldn't have? Good luck!

This sounds quite serious, possibly a broken rib, take him to the vet now otherwise it could be considered falure to treat which is in many locations illegal.

I do NOT suggest waiting 'a day or so'. If you were lying around not moving and your chest hurt, you'd probably go in right away. Besides, oftentimes vets can't even see them for a day or so, so call now. Sounds like it has serious trouble.
