The cost of my ob for my last pregnacy was 16 visits @ 60.00 a peice that dont count 3 ultrasounds and 2 sets of bloodwork

the hospital bill for the birth and the peditrician (it was all on the same bill was almost 10,000.00

I had complications with my pregnacy and delivery (but did not have a c-section) my husband also works for the state so we have great health ins. bu I always had to know the total of the bills.

    With health insurance:

    1. A copay, usually of $20-$50, per visit. Several visits during the pregnancy.

    2. The insurance will pick up the tab.

    3. The insurance will pick up the tab.

    Without insurance:

    1. Visits at the so-called "free" clinics can range anywhere from very cheap to quite expensive. Many low-income Women go without their visits because they cannot afford them and we do not have universal health care.

    2. Anywhere from $8,000 on up. My cousin had to pay the first $8,000 of her hospital bill BEFORE she ever went into labor. The rest of the bill was sent to her afterward.

    3. Typically included in the bill that is sent to you after the birth.

If you can, try to get her on Medicaid so that the state will cover the expenses.

    Good luck!

    Peace,

    Jenn

Oh I hope that you are on the govt. assisted program called Medicaid. I have Tricare (military insurance) so I paid nothing to my hospital stays. Medicaid covers all but you have to pay for co pays on meds (that is if you even live in the USA) also if you are expecting, check out WIC (Women Infants Children) it is where you sign up to get a case of formula every month for your child free. Also they will give you vouchers for other grocery items before the birth and after the child turns 1 year old. I live in Alabama and from what I was told here, you can qualify for WIC even if you make $50,000 or more income. Medicaid would be based on your income to see if you would qualify for it. Alabama docs for cash pay/no insurance are:

$100+ per visit w/ doc (around $40+ if at health department)

$5,000+ hospital stay ( for 2 days w/ no complications)

$600+ (this doesn't include additional problems, meds, IV's, extra testing, or the ped having to be on call if baby has problems)

    I hope I helped!

for me with my insurance coverage

the OB visits was a one time $40 fee and all labs are covered

the hospital bill should only be the admittance fee, if all goes well

and pediatrician for after the baby is $20 per visit

    This is with Pacificare

My first child was born using Kaiser insurance:

the Ob check ups were covered with no charge, but labs were $15 a peice

The hospital bill was $200 between my daughter and I

And the pediatric visits that we went to, up until our insurance change was $25 per visit.

these were all normal plans through either my husband's or my workplace, no low income type thing.

I would definately suggest getting insurance, and if you cannot afford it, i know here in California that medi-Cal will cover a pregnant woman and a child up to like age 4 or something if your income meets criteria.

    Good luck!!

Insurance covers it but most insurances have deductibles like mine United Health care, if you want the best treatment.

    1. 25 for first visit, the rest are covered including all lab work

    2. 2000 deductible, insurance covers the rest (even if we need to go back to hospital for the rest of the year)

    3. Insurance covers
