My task manager on my Windows XP machine is screwed up ...?
My task manager on my Windows XP machine is screwed up ... showing the programs to end without the processes and the other stuff that is usually there .. is this just a simple setting that got changed that i cannot find?
rebooting is not the issue
when i right-click the top of the task manager window - go to process is a choice ... so i am sure it is just a setting or something but have no idea how to get it back to normal
I cant get to options in the task manager
i hit control alt delete
there is no menu on top ... the top bar says task and status and then lists my tasks .. with end task, switch to, and new task as my choices on the bottom
if i right click on the word task, i get a little drop down menu with the choices
switch to, bring to front, minimize, maximize, (then shaded cascade tile horizontally tile vertically), end task, and go to processes.
if i go to processes i do get the processes but still no menu on the top

Assuming you dont have a virus or something screwing up your system, id say reboot, it is a windows product after all.
Fixing windows problems 101:
Step 1. Reboot
Step 2. System Restore
Step 3. Wipe partition start again OR wait for windows to patch and be computerless.......
*****EDIT******
close taskmanager
Try clicking Start->Run... Type taskman.exe
If that fixes it the shortcut or reg key that points ctrl+alt+del to it has a switch on it, otherwise search for taskman.exe in your windows folder (I believe, im on W2k and a domain atm) right click-> properties and see if you have access to everything, if not change your acct to where youre administrator.... thats all i can think of atm.

Sometimes XP gets that way. Holding the power button for 10-15 seconds usually will force a power off of the machine. Then wait 30 seconds and power on again to re-boot XP. Generally that clears it.
If not, do a recovery console - or re-install Windows. Remember, a re-install will loose data files, so have backup files and be careful.
