Cost for supporting a chimney?

Got an old victorian house where all of the old fireplaces have been taken out. The surveyor says that the supports for the chimney need to be replaced. What would that cost?

Got an 1930s brick built house where all of the old fireplaces have been taken out. The surveyor says that the supports for the chimney need to be improved. What would that cost?

Not in an earthquake or otherwise vulnerable area

    The cost = $ 1,000 estimated by previous experience

    A lot of factors could effect this cost. I am going to assume you are in the US and it is a wood framed house with a concrete foundation and not in a high seismic zone. It should run between 5K to 10K. If any of the other conditions apply it will be more.
